The current PI thread got me to thinking... At what point does a woman with muscle turn from fox to freak? The extreme end of the spectrum is pretty obvious, but what about the less extreme?

Someone mentioned that when "supplemented" the effects are subtle, but build up over time. I'm honestly clueless about steroids and stuff like that - what sorts of things do women take? What does that do to a woman?

What would be the extreme for a woman who never took any "supplements"? Just how big can an average woman get who trains hard and eats well really get?

Any thoughts? Any pics?

As far as my opinion . . I can't give you any guidelines, but I know it when I see it.

Exactly! That's EXACTLY what I was gonna write, but then I scrolled down and saw you already wrote it. Sorry, Jilly.

Nail on the head. It's too subjective to explain.

Sure, as usual, the guys are quick to pipe up, myself included.

From my point of view, I find my interest level changes a lot based on a few different things...

- facial features
- softness of appearance
- veins

In the pictures above, I don't find it attractive when she is shredded or if she has no body fat to speak of. I guess softness of appearance vs shredded appearance might appear as the difference between wrinkles and aging.

Just having muscles is not something I am used to seeing, but it is simply healthy up to a point and wouldn't stop me from admiring form.

I agree with what Vroom said. Facial features, softness, and not excessive vascularity are a big part of it. In terms of bodyfat, I ALWAYS find the female figure competitors more attractive in the weeks leading up to competition rather than competition shredded. In terms actually having too much muscle, not sure. I'd still have to go with what Nate said. I just know it when I see it.

Let me add some details:
- Facial features -
Everyone can tell something is wrong when a woman becomes looking like a man.

- softness of appearance -
This is similar to the above. Without "supplements", the body of a muscular woman doesn't not look like a body of a muscular man.

- veins -
Same to the second point.

Just my 2cents,

Geek boy

One thing to keep in mind is that these women likely look at least a little different when they aren't all greased up, pumped and flexing.

However, if her clitoris is bigger than her guys penis...well then there is definately a problem.

Just a quick thought to interject. There have been many debates about the freakish female bodybuilders and I feel (I could be mistaken) that some of the women think the guys are being small or rude when we say we don't like the abnormaly buff women.

But, I have heard numerous times women upon viewing a pro bodybuilder or pictures of bodybuilders say "ew, those guys are so gross, they look sickening and look at all those veins".

So, I think there is somewhat of a double standard here with some not all. I could be wrong.

I prefer medium-low bodyfat levels on women, not jock-low or bodybuilder-low. Like a high end stripper - they are shapely and firm, but they are smooth.

The moment I see a vein, an eight pack, major separation, or anything like that I turn away. Carry some fat, ladies.

So, just out of curiosity, what would be some peoples' prefered maximum muscularity on a woman? I know it's totally individual and subjective, I'm just curious. Who looks good, but if they were to go any further, it would be too much?

When I was in High School, and even now, I thought Sharon Bruneau (the one on the right) was one of the sexiest female bodybuilders on the planet. There are other pics I have where she looks even better...but those have been stuck together for years now.

Well, it varies woman by woman, but if I can't tell if it's a man or a woman without seeing the face, that's a bad sign. Even worse if I see the face and still can't figure it out. A certain percentage of the mostly highly built up women I've seen have had masculine facial characteristics, too. I'm guessing that's from steroids, but I don't know.

Personally, most men I know don't like the muscle look at all on women. They like very little muscle bulging and definition on them. I more just don't care for vascularity on women and don't mind if they have a bit more muscle than that, especially if when they relax the musculature doesn't jump out in high relief or look bulky. I like a streamlined look and don't care for blockiness or bulk. I don't mind a six pack or larger thighs and calves than the usual, though. Get those green veins coming out of the shoulder, though, and for me, it's a turn-off.

Just my personal tastes, not trying to tell anyone who to be or why to be it. That's none of my business or concern. Just saying my personal preferences in looks.

Personally, It's not all that hard to describe for me. I find women (and male bodybuilders too, but women more so) should have a purposeful or sport-oriented physique. I have no problem with veins, strong jaw and neck musculature, large/broad shoulders, abs/low bf, etc. on women. My issue is when it all comes together on one woman that it's a problem.

Anecdotally, I find that athletics evens a lot of this out as the attributes some of the attributes I describe are somewhat mutually exclusive e.g. broad shoulders and abs, especially when performance is concerned.

I think gaining muscle just to gain muscle makes both male and female physiques look bad, the only difference being that small skinny women are more desirable whereas small skinny men aren't. So muscles, even excessive ones, are more tolerated and accepted on men.

Although it's hard to generalize and would vary depending on the woman, I think I can safely say that I would find most women with more muscle then Christiane Lamy unappealing.

And though I respect her tremendously and the hard work that must go into getting that lean, I think she looked best in the first pictures Christian posted when her bodyfat was higher. Those pictures were stunning!

I'd say most women in competition state don't look good. That only lasts a week or two though.

I always though Corey Everson looked great and she was quite muscular, alot has to do with the woman.

Personally I think athletic looks good, once you push it to extremes, not so good.

It is hard for most women to get too big naturally.

Todd
