Hello Everyone!

I'm not really sure what to say, so I guess I'll just start typing.

I have been trying to loose weight and get into shape for about a year and a half now, and I am really struggling.

A few years ago, I was about 230lbs and I lost 50lbs. Since then, I have gained 20 back, and right now my weight ranges from about 200 to 210lbs.

My boyfriend (Matt) has been trying to help me so much. He not only reads T-Nation EVERY day, but has done tons of research about fitness and diet. He is a personal trainer himself and he's wonderful at it. He has helped so many people loose weight and get stronger, and I am the only person that hasn't really done either, and its because of me.

I can't seem to stick to anything. I guess I just have no motivation for some reason. I won't to be healthy and strong, but somewhere along those wants I just became uncomfortable being overweight and weak, and I'm not sure where to start or what to do.

Right now, Matt and I are trying to do the anabolic diet, but I am struggling so much with it. My body does not handle carbs well, but I just can't stop eating them. I eat them as a comfort food, and trying to stop eating them has seriously been one of the hardest things I've ever done, which probably sounds really pathetic and sad to some people, because it does to me too, but its like an addiction that I just can't seem to kick.

As far as my work-outs go, when I do them I feel great. Matt has me on a plan that cycles through four different work-outs, each including a full body lift, some arm work like push-ups or overhead presses, and then some high intensity training at the end like complexes or sprints. I only go to the gym about 1-2 times a week. I also rock climb occasionally, but haven't much since the weather here has been getting colder. My work-outs don't seem to affect my weight to much, but Matt tells me they would if I was dieting right.

So, this is why I ended up here. I have spent quite a bit of time before reading articles on T-Nation and talking to Matt and asking him questions, but finally I decided I really need some support and advice from others, especially women. There are a lot of women on here that I really admire and respect, and I just need advice on what should I do? How do they get motivated? What kind of diets works for them?

My goal is to get to around 15% body fat, and if I remember right I'm currently at 24% body fat. I want to be healthier too especially. My family has a history of diabetes and I really don't want to be the next in line, so I really do need to be more healthy.

As far as my diet goes, its a lot better than maybe the average person, but its not as clean as I would like it to be. I eat about three or four times a day. I always have breakfast, usually eggs and a protein, and then for lunch I'll have some cheese and meat, usually I have a snack like string cheese between lunch and dinner, and dinner is usually a protein and broccoli, or something similar. Those are the good days. All the other days, its the same stuff but add in some carbs like bread, maybe some cookies, CHOCOLATE is a big one that I can't stop eating....

So, maybe I've just ranted on for nothing and everyone that reads this is going to think I'm dumb and lazy... but I hope someone that reads this is willing to help, because I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for your time,

Summer

Well I certainly don't think you are dumb or lazy. You just need to commit to your goal and do it. Which is never easy but so worth it. Good luck with your goals. Stay strong.

Diet is super important for results. And the diet is usually going to be boring, because chicken and eggs aren't as yummy as pizza and icecream and cookies and chocolates. and they never will be, and carbs will never be a daily huge part of any fatloss diet, especialy the AD. So it really all comes down to the choices you want to make: chocolate and cookies or a hot, sexy, muscular body. You really can not have both. Your workout seems like it is in check, but you need to realize that you make the choices in terms of what you put in your mouth, it is as simple as that.

First of all welcome. First of all you have the best support system in your boyfriend and this site. The people here are ready willing an able to help in any way they can.

BUT FIRST...
Let me say that you have to want to do this for yourself. No one here can make that decision for you. Once you make that decision, we are here for you.

Let me add the AD is great! I have lost 18 pounds and over 10 inches and let me add I am 50 years old. I suffer with Thyroid issues and adrenal fatique, which are tough issues to lose weight with.

Get your goals set for yourself. Get the junk out of the house so you won't be tempted.

Come back when you are absolutely ready and we will be here for you.

That is bad ass! Great work!

This needs to be moved somewhere where a lot more people will see it. IMHO.

Looks like we have the same goal and frustrations. One thing I've done is STAY POSITIVE and ELIMINATE EXCUSES. Second, VISUALIZING myself achieving my goal and already accomplishing it. I put myself in the future. Third I commited by making a short video of my FAT self and the end result will be the changes I have gone through. Knowing that I MUST finish that video with LIVE "ME" footage drives me.

Hello Everyone!

I'm not really sure what to say, so I guess I'll just start typing.

I AM LOSING weight and GETTING IN shape for about a year and a half now, and I am really NO LONGER struggling.

A few years ago, I was about 230lbs and I SUCCESSFULLY lost 50lbs. Since then,
My boyfriend (Matt) IS HELPING me.He not only reads T-Nation EVERY day, but has done tons of research about fitness and diet. He is a personal trainer himself and he's wonderful at it. He has helped so many people loose weight and get stronger, and I am INCLUDED IN ALL THOSE PEOPLE HE HAS HELPED.

I AM ABLE TO stick to THE WORKOUTS AND DIET PLANS. I HAVE THE MOTIVATION AND THE DRIVE. I AM healthy and strong, I AM NO LONGER overweight and weak, and I'm sure where to start or what to do.

Right now, Matt and I are DOING THE anabolic diet, AND I am NOT struggling with it. My body handle carbs well, AND I CAN CONTROL eating them. I DONT eat them as a comfort food, and NOT eating them has seriously been one of the EASIEST things I've ever done, which probably sounds really GOOD and AWESOME to some people, because it does to me too, AND its NOT AN addiction that I just can't seem to kick.

As far as my work-outs go, when I do them I feel great. Matt has me on a plan that cycles through four different work-outs, each including a full body lift, some arm work like push-ups or overhead presses, and then some high intensity training at the end like complexes or sprints. I go to the gym about 1-2 times a week. I also rock climb occasionally, but haven't much since the weather here has been getting colder. My work-outs ARE A DIRECT RESULT TO my weight LOSS AND Matt tells me THAT ADDING A BALANCED DIET WILL HELP ME GET TO MY GOAL.

So, this is why I ended up here. I have spent quite a bit of time before reading articles on T-Nation and talking to Matt and asking him questions, AND finally I decided I APPRECIATED ALL THE support and advice from others, especially women. There are a lot of women on here that I really admire and respect, and I just THANK YOU FOR ALL THE advice on what I NEEDED TO DO. THANK YOU FOR THE MOTIVATION. MY DIET IS SUPERB!

My goal is to get to around 15% body fat, and if I remember right I'm THERE! I AM healthier too.My family has a history of diabetes, and I WILL NOT BE THE next in line, so I really AM BEING healthy.

As far as my diet goes, its SO MUCH better than maybe the average person, AND its as clean as I would like it to be. I eat about three or four times a day. I always have breakfast, usually eggs and a protein, and then for lunch I'll have some cheese and meat, usually I have a snack like string cheese between lunch and dinner, and dinner is usually a protein and broccoli, or something similar. Those are the good days. All the other days, its the same stuff but add in some carbs like bread, maybe some cookies, CHOCOLATE is a big one that I HAVE STOPPED eating....

Thanks for your time,

Summer
