Hello Everyone!
I'm not really sure what to say, so I guess I'll just start typing.
I have been trying to loose weight and get into shape for about a year and a half now, and I am really struggling.
A few years ago, I was about 230lbs and I lost 50lbs. Since then, I have gained 20 back, and right now my weight ranges from about 200 to 210lbs.
My boyfriend (Matt) has been trying to help me so much. He not only reads T-Nation EVERY day, but has done tons of research about fitness and diet. He is a personal trainer himself and he's wonderful at it. He has helped so many people loose weight and get stronger, and I am the only person that hasn't really done either, and its because of me.
I can't seem to stick to anything. I guess I just have no motivation for some reason. I won't to be healthy and strong, but somewhere along those wants I just became uncomfortable being overweight and weak, and I'm not sure where to start or what to do.
Right now, Matt and I are trying to do the anabolic diet, but I am struggling so much with it. My body does not handle carbs well, but I just can't stop eating them. I eat them as a comfort food, and trying to stop eating them has seriously been one of the hardest things I've ever done, which probably sounds really pathetic and sad to some people, because it does to me too, but its like an addiction that I just can't seem to kick.
As far as my work-outs go, when I do them I feel great. Matt has me on a plan that cycles through four different work-outs, each including a full body lift, some arm work like push-ups or overhead presses, and then some high intensity training at the end like complexes or sprints. I only go to the gym about 1-2 times a week. I also rock climb occasionally, but haven't much since the weather here has been getting colder. My work-outs don't seem to affect my weight to much, but Matt tells me they would if I was dieting right.
So, this is why I ended up here. I have spent quite a bit of time before reading articles on T-Nation and talking to Matt and asking him questions, but finally I decided I really need some support and advice from others, especially women. There are a lot of women on here that I really admire and respect, and I just need advice on what should I do? How do they get motivated? What kind of diets works for them?
My goal is to get to around 15% body fat, and if I remember right I'm currently at 24% body fat. I want to be healthier too especially. My family has a history of diabetes and I really don't want to be the next in line, so I really do need to be more healthy.
As far as my diet goes, its a lot better than maybe the average person, but its not as clean as I would like it to be. I eat about three or four times a day. I always have breakfast, usually eggs and a protein, and then for lunch I'll have some cheese and meat, usually I have a snack like string cheese between lunch and dinner, and dinner is usually a protein and broccoli, or something similar. Those are the good days. All the other days, its the same stuff but add in some carbs like bread, maybe some cookies, CHOCOLATE is a big one that I can't stop eating....
So, maybe I've just ranted on for nothing and everyone that reads this is going to think I'm dumb and lazy... but I hope someone that reads this is willing to help, because I would really appreciate it.
Thanks for your time,
Summer
Diet is super important for results. And the diet is usually going to be boring, because chicken and eggs aren't as yummy as pizza and icecream and cookies and chocolates. and they never will be, and carbs will never be a daily huge part of any fatloss diet, especialy the AD. So it really all comes down to the choices you want to make: chocolate and cookies or a hot, sexy, muscular body. You really can not have both. Your workout seems like it is in check, but you need to realize that you make the choices in terms of what you put in your mouth, it is as simple as that.
