Christian Thibaudeau: (cont) Also, to develop max explosiveness I do not suggest a regular ramp... not enough volume in the money zone. Ramp up to the max you can EXPLODE (NOT just be fast) with, then do sets with that weight until you are showing even a slight decrease in explosiveness. Then analyse your training: if your explosiveness is decreasing but you haven't done that much volume and feel physically fresh, decrease the weight a bit and continue to perform explosive sets with the lower weight. Christian Thibaudeau: @ Bassip... I DO NOT like the expression ''go by feel''... in fact, I hate it just about as much as I hate the expression ''bulking up''... You never ''go by feel''... you should be intelectually involved with every single lift you make, so a decision to add sets or stop an exercise is NOT done by feel but rather by analysis. After each set ask yourself if you are starting to lose that snap or if you technique starts to be off... be really honest with yourself. (more)

Christian Thibaudeau: No, I meant that everyday you focus on explosiveness, NEVER going heavier than what you can lift with a power snap and stopping the exercise when you are losing that snap. Then once every 10-14 days you have a test day where you work up to a near-maximal/maximal weight.

John Gaglione: Id13: I hear you on that. They are expensive but a very good option if you have a home gym, are limited on space or if you gym doesn't have a GHR. It is very portable and saves a ton of space. The slide board leg curl isn't exactly the same but is also a good substitute for the GHR. A slide board like the one shown in the video costs about $100, and if you want to go very low tech you can do a similar movement for furniture movers on the carpet for about $10.

Christian Thibaudeau: @ coolusername... that having been said, increasing protein the day after a low protein day would create an anabolic boost, especially if it's the right kinda of protein (the faster the better, MAG-10 being the best choice)... but not need to double it... if anything it would have a detrimental effect... 50-70g over normal level is MORE THAN ENOUGH (adding 2 scoops of MAG-10 15 min prior to your 3 main meals would be the best approach).

MikeTheBear: All: Do a search on "partner glute ham developer" and you'll find places that sell that pad. Still pricey, but way cheaper than a GHD. As for the article, I plan to start doing single leg work using a Zercher grip. That is a great idea. The Zercher position also seems to really force my abs to tighten up to maintain stability.
