I think sometimes strong words are just meant to be humorous

but in reality there are too many parents who are incredibly ill equipped to do their job and probably should not bear children

perhaps levenson, a humor writer and media personality, had something like that in mind

...or maybe he just wanted to stop hearing women complain about it :)
