Anybody have a recommendation for a gym in downtown L.A.? I'm going to be near Bunker Hill. I won't have a lot of free time, so I can't drive far, but I do want to try to get a squat and deadlift workout out.

There is a Gold's Gym in DTLA. I have not visited it in a few years but it used to have a hardcore section.

I saw that Gold's on my google search. I'm glad to hear it has a hardcore section. I'll plan on heading there.

Head out to west LA and train at one of the Equinox locations.

And thank me later...

Believe it or not, I went to CrossFit L.A. on Santa Monica Blvd and got a great hard core workout..heavy push presses and heavy squat workout there. These guys are strong and will be glad to have a serious lifter come and train. Downtown L.A. is limited in the way of powerlifting gyms.

I'm not sure I'm going to have time to make it out to the West Side. I actually thought about trying the cross fit location downtown -- it very close to where I'm staying.

Ended up going to Crossfit Mean Streets. Perfect warehouse style gym. Barbell, plates and a platform. All I needed for today's session and the staff was great.
