Hows the toe reacting to the squatting?
Don't even notice it on squats or DL. Benching is another story. I can't tuck my legs back without being reminded that I'm a dumbass and 100# plates should be feared.

great meeting you. you are a handsome man.
Pete, likewise. It was a pleasure to meet you too.
I'll attribute that "handsome" comment to the fact that the lights below turned low in the crowd. It's easy to see why you move the weight you do. You are one thick dude.

It's been decided for me that I need a deload. Haven't had one in 8 wweks. Dumb, I know. This phase of Skeiko has beaten me up. So I will start deload. Hit openers week of 4/8 and shut it down until the meet on 4/22
DL
1x3 340
1x3 340
1x2 365
1x2 375
0x2 385 bar didn't even get to my knees.

Weight 224. Weigh in on sat morning. Hips feel good for a change. Get a massage on Thursday. Trying to avoid starchy carbs until after weigh-in. I will be grumpy until then.

Still a work in progress. Went 8/9. Squat 370, 402, 429 (27# meet PR), Bench 250something, 270 (11# meet PR) both good, 293 fail. Deadlift 380, 402, 419 (11# meet PR). Total 1118 (49# meet PR).
I called all of the squat attemps and the openers for bench & DL. Let teammate (handler) pick the rest. I need to set honest openers in the future. Squat opener should have been 400#+ as should DL. Was gassed toward the end of the meet. My wife and I are coming down with colds or something.
I've got no complaints, other than benching is stupid :) Hips felt great and hit squat depth warming up with 135. That hasn't happened since Reagan was President.
Next meet is probably in 6-9 months. This was my last meet as Men's Masters II as I turn 50 in September. Now I get to be the younger of the old farts in my next division.

Awesome job, 8 for 9 is great lifting!
Thanks JJack. Left some weight on the platform in both squats and deads. Yesterday was a tough day. Felt like I got hit by a bus. Feeling much better today. My back hasn't been bitchy all day. Don't plan on competing on a Sunday again any time soon.
