My Indigo-3G shipment has arrived and I will be picking it up this afternoon! Can't wait to get started.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

1) Height: 5'6"

2) Weight: 195lbs

3) Number of years training seriously: I started weight training at 16 years of age and continued inconsistently for several years. I would consider the last ten years to have been productive training.

4) Training experience, including current program: I am experienced with most traditional weighttraining systems having tried almost everything over the years. I tend to gravitate toward heavier, lower rep lifting. Currently I am using something along the lines of Ct's HP Mass variations based on 3 deadlift, 3 upper body pressing days each week. I am also experienced in most strongman disciplines.

5) Olympic-lift variations you know how to perform: I'm reasonably proficient with the clean. I typically include jump shrugs or high pulls at the beginning of a workout to charge up the nervous system.

6) Athletic background: I have a background in hockey, football and baseball although it has been a long time since I've played competitively. Currently, all of my exercise comes in the form of weightraining and conditioning work.

7) Primary fitness goal (choose one): gain muscle, lose fat,
recomposition body, gain strength, improve athletic performance: Recomposition body

8) Secondary fitness goal (choose one): gain muscle, lose fat,
recomposition body, gain strength, improve athletic performance: gain muscle

9) Days per week you can train: Currently training at least 5 and usually 6 days per week although this is tricky with the constantly rotating shifts and frequent overtime associated with police work.

10) Amount of time available to train each workout: Currently my strength training workouts are approximately 2 hours long which includes prowler work at the end.

11) Time of day you train: This changes daily depending on what shift I am working. When working day shifts I must training after 6pm. When working night shifts I train at 3pm. On days off from work I'll start training between 1pm and 3pm typically.

12) Do you have certain days available for twice-a-day workouts? Yes. On days when I am not working it is possible to get in two-a-day workouts.

13) Your daily schedule: This is all over the map unfortunately.

14) Current injuries (if any): Nothing significant. I'm prone to bicep tendonitis associated with bench pressing although I have found that CT's method of shrugging the shoulders while benching has alleviated the problem for now. I'm also prone to SI joint problems largely associated with back squats. I'm currently deadlifting and front squatting and having no issues.

15) Lifts (if any) you need to avoid due to safety issues: Back squats seem to drive my SI joint mad. Front squats are fine though.

16) Do you currently have trouble falling asleep at bedtime? No. In fact I often have trouble staying awake. This is due to the demands of shift work.

17) When you wake up in the morning, are you an easy starter or you do
need some extra time and stimulants to start your day?: I usually start the day with a coffee and I take a Spike tab before workouts. When working night shifts I may have another coffee or occasionally another Spike.

18) Health issues (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.): None.

19) Total calories consumed on training days: ~3000

20) Total calories consumed on non-training days: ~2700 (these are rough estimates - sadly I have neglected staying on top of these numbers of late)

21) Total grams of carbs consumed on training days: Between 70-80 ish from workout beverage and the rest only from vegetable and fruit usually.

22) Total grams of carbs consumed on non-training days: Not sure but usually just from vegetable and fruit sources.

23) Describe in detail your workout nutrition: Alpha GPC 90 min prior, Spike 30 mins prior, 2 scoops Surge Workout Fuel, 1 scoop MAG-10, 2 scoops ANACONDA pre/during workout. Often another scoop MAG-10 after workout. Planning on adding more Surge Workout Fuel pre-workout while using Indigo-3G.

I will have some 'before' photos taken in the next couple of days and I will post them here.

When time permits I will also post the details of my current training program.

Good luck to all those who have already started on their Indigo-3G. I will be following everyone's progress and look forward to sharing my own with you all.

I picked up my Indigo 3G today and plan on starting with it tomorrow (May 26). I'm thinking that I'll start on the HP Mass program and run that for the duration of what will hopefully turn out to be a 12 week stint of 3G.

For the last month I've been using CT's Hip/Power program using the HP Mass principles. I forget what the exact name of the program was and I haven't been able to find it again using the search function. It is basically 6 weight training sessions per week with 3 deadlift days and 3 upper body pressing days. I've seen good results from it but feel it is time to switch it up.

I'll do the HP Mass program as written until I hear otherwise from the coaches here on the Indigo forum.

As noted in my previous post I have a crazy work schedule which dictates that I train at different times throughout the week and I often have to train while running on less than optimal rest. Meal schedules are all over the place too depending on what shift I'm working. Any input on how to optimize the dosing schedule for 3G from day to day would be greatly appreciated.

7:00am May 26th - first does of 3G has been consumed - it's on now!

Gonna hit a round of Tabata bike sprints then have breakfast around 8:00am. Planning on a bit of unsweetened granola with mango slices mixed with 3 or 4 tablespoons of yogurt, and two scoops chocolate Grow! mixed with water. Normally I would have 4 Flameout with breakfast, mainly because I find I forget to take it if I don't do it right away, but I will be saving that for one of my lower carb meals now that I'm using the 3G prior to higher carb meals.

Working again today (not a full shift, just admin stuff) but will be getting in Day One of HP Mass at some point.

Day 1 Summary:

7:00AM - 3G - 4 caps
7:30AM - 1 Alpha Male, pycnogenol, Vit E, Nettle Root, Vit C, Vit D3 (6000i.u)
7:35AM - 1 cup black coffee
7:40AM - Tabata bike sprints - 4 min
8:00AM - breakfast - 3/4 cup unsweetened granola, 1 tbsp ground flax, 8 whole almonds, 1 med mango, 4 tbsp yogurt, 2 scoops chocolate Grow!
11:30AM - lunch - 1 large piece (double size of hand palm) wild pacific salmon, 1/2 large bell pepper sliced, 1/4 avocado
2:00PM - 1 cap GPC
2:30PM - 3G - 4 caps
3:00PM - Spike Tablet
3:30PM - begin workout drink - 3xSWF, 2x Anaconda, 1x MAG-10
3:35PM - begin workout - Day 1 HP Mass, eccentricless back/bi's work at the end* (question for CT about adding this)
5:30PM finish workout
5:45PM - 1 scoop MAG-10
6:40PM - 3G - 4 caps

Plan is to have dinner at 7:40PM then another protein/fat meal around 9:00PM. Must go to sleep shortly thereafter as I have to get up at 4:30AM for work tomorrow.

Obviously having 3G at 3:30PM and again at 6:40PM is not ideal. I should have had a higher carb lunch and done a second dose prior to that. My work schedule being what it is however I'm never entirely sure what time my workout will get done. I'll be aiming to even out my dosing schedule as much as possible from here on out.

CT - I started the HP Mass program today. I'm curious if you consider this a good choice while using Indigo 3G. Elsewhere you noted that you consider your Star Complexes program optimal but there is no way that I can pull off supersetting 5 exercises in my gym. It is pretty busy there and it will be logistically impractical. Also, following the first upper day I included extra eccentricless back/bi's work along the lines of what you prescribe to follow the traditional exercises on the dedicated back/bi's day of this program. My thinking is the extra volume will be good without inducing extra nervous system fatigue. I was torn between doing this and doing conditioning work on the Prowler instead. I'd like to hear your thoughts - would you recommend one over the other? Should I do neither?

Going to try to upload some pics in a bit here.

Day 2 Summary May 27th 2011

04:30am - wake, Alpha Male, 6000i.u D3, 400i.u E, 1000mg C, pycnogenol, nettle root
04:40 - black coffee
0500 - Indigo-3G 4 caps
0600 - 3/4 unsweetened granola (basically oats with cashew/almond/coconut pieces), sliced banana, 4tbsp natural yogurt, 1 tbsp ground flax, 8 almonds; 2 scoops Grow! Wheymixed with water
0930 - 3 egg omlette w/ ham, cheese; tomato slices; black coffee
1130 - Indigo-3G 4 caps
1230 - chicken breast w/ mushrooms, quinoa w/ oninon/mushrooms/garlic/bell pepper
1600 - 2 wild pacific salmon filets w/ 1/2 sliced bell pepper, 1/4 avocado
1730 - 1 cap Alpha GPC
1800 - Indigo-3G 4 caps
1830 - Spike tablet
1900 - pre/during workout drink (3x Surge Workout Fuel, 2x ANACONDA, 1 x MAG-10). Begin workout- Day 2 HP Mass w/ extra eccentricless back/bi's work at the end
2100 - finsh workout
2115 - 1x MAG-10
2130 - 1 chicken breast; mixed greens salad w/boccocini cheese and oil/vinegar dressing; sauteed mushrooms
2300 - 250 grams cottage cheese, 6 almonds, 4 Flameout

Very long day. Workout went well all things considered. The extra Surge Workout Fuel helps alot which is why I keep adding extra sled work even when it is not called for in the program. My thinking is the eccentricless work won't tax the nervous system so it shouldn't inhibit recovery. I have the energy for it currently so I'll stick with it until I feel I need extra rest or until CT suggests that I knock it off.

Working days again tomorrow albeit it a shorter shift (scheduled for 0900-1700). I'm in the thick of 14 days in a row at work. This stretch will finish up on Wednesday morning (hopefully). I don't usually work so many in a row but I've had a lot on the go lately and haven't had much choice. Very much looking forward to a few days where I only need to think about training and eating.

Having trouble getting pics uploaded. Not sure whats up - it is possible that the files are too large. Its also possible that I'm just an idiot when it comes to anything technology related. I'll be getting a tech whiz friend to help me out tomorrow hopefully so I can get some pics up. The pics I currently have are not the greatest quality but they are recent and they will have to do for now unless I can get some better ones taken in the next day or two.

Day 3 May 28 2011

I'm going to be doing a Neural Charge workout after work today. I've heard it suggested that the full 100g of carbs workout drink is not required when doing Neural Charge so the plan is some MAG-10 around workout time.

I'm sure this has been discussed in the spills somewhere but I don't always have time to follow every post right now so I'll post the question here - on days when the 100g carb drink is not being consumed (for me that will be twice a week on Neural Charge days while on the HP Mass plan) my assumption is that three doses of 3G are still taken throughout the day and that a carb containing whole food meal should follow each dose. Correct?

~2100 - sleep.

Back up for work at 0430. Really need a day or two off from work at this point.

Still can't get pics to upload. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. They are in jpeg format. I've tried it using Google Chrome and Explorer and neither works. The pics I have kinda suck anywyay - I'll try to get some better ones taken on Monday and then see about getting them to upload. Anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong?

I'm feeling hotter than usual the last couple of days - anyone else experiencing this? Also had crazy dreams the first night after starting the 3G but that hasn't happened the last two nights so hopefully it was unrelated to the 3G.

Muscles are feeling much fuller than usual too. At ~ 200 grams of carbs per day right now I'm consuming considerably more than I normally would. Workouts are going well too. Despite being worn out from work I have energy to spare at the end of my training sessions right now.

So far so good.

Hmmm...all of a sudden my shitty front shot has appeared. I thought the upload attempt had failed. Interesting. In any case I'll be endeavoring to get some better pics soon

As you can tell from this pic I have carb sensitivity issues (fat storage in the sides) and elevated cortisol most likely (soft around the navel area). This is most likely a result of my horrendous sleep schedule.

Day 4 Summary May 29th 2011

0445 - cup of black coffee
0510 - Indigo-3G 4 caps
0610 - 3/4 cup unsweetened granola, 4 tbsp natural yogurt, handful of raisins, 8 almonds, 1 tbsp ground flax; 2 scoops Grow! mixed with water
0920 - 2 wild pacific salmon filets,1/2 sliced bell pepper, 1/4 avocado
1200 - Indigo-3G 4 caps
1300 - 1 chicken breasts w/mushrooms; 2 bbq chicken legs, 1 cup quinoa w/onion/garlic/peppers/mushrooms
1745 - Alpha GPC
1800 - Indigo-3G 4 caps
1830 - Spike tablet
1900 - workout drink - 3 x Surge Workout Fuel, 2 x ANACONDA, 1 x MAG-10; begin workout - Day 4 HP Mass
2100 - 1 scoop MAG-10
2115 - 3 small lamb loin chops; 1 lamb sausage; quinoa w/mushrooms/peppers/onion/garlic; mixed greens salad w/ oil/vinegar dressing
2300 - 250g cottage cheese, 4 Flameout, 4 almonds
2330 - sleep.

Another long day. 12 days straight of work at this point. Gonna be 14 in a row before I get a break. Still crushing the workouts though. Sweating alot too - really noticing an increase in body temperature at this point. Muscles feel more full than usual too.

Those who chose expedited shipping and started straight away should be approaching day 9 or 10 by now I would think. What kind of results are we seeing at that stage? Right now upon waking my midsection is appearing tighter while my muscles look fuller - even when having just gotten out of bed. With the amount of carbs I'm taking in I would typically see weight gain around the waist and that doesn't seem to be happening. I think I'll weigh myself tomorrow and see what, if anything, has changed. I was 195.1lbs the day before I began the Indigo-3G.

Recovery between workouts is good despite getting less-than-optimal sleep. I'm looking forward to a couple of days off and the chance to get 8+ hours of sleep for a few nights in a row.

@The_Machine - Thanks for the encouragement. Its been fun so far and I'm only at Day 5. I'll continue to keep this log current as much as possible.

I see you haven't started yet with the Indigo as you are finishing up another 'diet' plan first. Do you have a date in mind? When does you current 'diet' wrap up? What sorta plan are you using and what results have you seen?

As a side note, the late night peeing that Team 1 people keep mentioning struck last night. I was up twice in the night and when the alarm went off this morning I was back at it. Interesting. Did others notice this effect right away or did it take a few days as it did in my case?

@ Dave-G Yes, I have a date in mind, this is my last week. So I'll start with a new Plan and Indigo-3G from next monday on. Actually I'm doing a carbcycling diet: Monday: Medium Carbs Tuesday Low Carbs Wendnesday: Low Carbs Thursday: Highcarb (Just Rice) Friday Medium Carbs Saturday Low Carbs Sunday: Medium Carbs.

The Idea is to get lean enough to start a musclebuilding phase, (no Bulking) just lean muscle-gains. Therefore I want to be as lean as possible to ensure that I'm Insulin-Sensitiv. My Idea is just to get under or at 12% BF. I'm pretty close to it, so I think I'll be fine with this last week of diet.

Day 5 Summary May 30th 2011

Worked a modified shift today. I would normally be switching to night shifts today (6pm-6am) but due to the constraints of an investigation I'm working on I changed my shift to 10am-10pm. Of course my plan to finish at 10pm didn't work out due to it being a busy night so I ended up working past midnight and not getting to bed until 3am.

I could have gotten to be a couple of hours earlier but my plan all day had been to, after work, finally watch UFC 130 that had aired on Sat May 28th as this was the first chance I had to do so. There were a few good fights on the card I thought. Mir is looking pretty beastly these days and he shut Nelson down very effectively although it would have been nice to see Mir finish him with a slick sub or KO.

Anyway, in terms of diet/training the day played out like this:

0830 - wake, pycnogenol, Vit E, Vit C, nettle root, Vit D3 (6000i.u)
0845 - 1 cup black coffee
0900 - 3G - 4 caps
1000 - 3/4 cup unsweetened granola, 4 tbsp natural yogurt, 1 banana sliced, 8 almonds, 1 tbsp ground flax; 2 scoops Grow! mixed with water (to be clear, the granola/banana/flax/almonds/yogurt are mixed in a bowl and eaten that way while the Grow! is taken as a shake).
1230 - 5 eggs scrambled with mushrooms, peppers, onion, garlic, cheddar cheese; avocado slices on the side along with a serving of steamed broccoli
1400 - 1 cap GPC
1430 - 3G - 4 caps
1500 - 1 Spike tablet
1530 - workout drink - 3 x Surge Workout Fuel, 2 x ANACONDA, 1 x MAG-10; begin workout - Day 5 HP Mass
1715 - 1 scoop MAG-10
1830 - Vit e, Vit C, pycnogenol
1835 - 1 large bbq'd chicken breast; grilled asparagus w/olive oil and dusted w/ parmesan cheese
2130 - 3G - 4 caps
2230 - 3 bbq'd lamb loin chops; 1 cup quinoa w/ mushrooms, peppers, onions, garlic; serving of steamed broccoli
0100 - 250 grams cottage cheeese; 1 slice Gouda cheese; 4 jalapeno stuffed olives; 4 Flameout; 2 Strubs dill pickles (I love these things - I eat them for a snack when I'm otherwise I'd be craving something fried/salty)
0315 - 3 ZMA, sleep

*yes, I did slip in my workout in the middle of my work day - I ended up essentially working a split shift as my lunch break time didn't quite cover the time it took to train so I extended my off-duty time to cover it. This is usually not within the realm of possibility but since I've been re-arranging my schedule alot lately to accomodate departmental need and, since I was not actively taking calls throughout the day as I was working on a specific investigation AND since I explained the fact that I will not willingly miss any workouts right now, I was given clearance to do so - just this once.

It should be pretty evident from my first five days of logging here that my sleep/work/meal planning/training schedule is all over the map. It is alway tricky to figure out the dosing schedule for the 3G as the scheduling parameters change day-to-day. Thus far I've been pretty lucky in terms of having the time to eat almost exactly 1 hour after each dose has been consumed.

The nature of my job demands that I drop everything and respond immediately to calls when they come in. One never knows how long I will be tied up with a call either so the risk of missing planned meal times is always there. So far so good on this front but I expect to hit a snag or two over the course of the next 35 days.

On a positive note I have noticed that my quads have shown a noticeable improvement after just this week on the HP Mass program. The eccentricless leg work gives me a pump like I haven't experienced for a long time and this morning my quads - particularly lateralis - were looking much fuller than usual.

Again I was up in the night to pee but only once this time.

The upper abs seem to be taking shape a bit more each morning. I also noticed yesterday that I needed to tighten up my duty belt a little bit. This is a good sign too. I weighed myself using the same scale that showed me at 195.1 the day before beginning the 3G and it now shows me at 195.2. No change in scale weight but, as I said, I had to tighten the belt a bit (significant considering my carb intake and the immediate fattening that usually goes along with that) and my muscles are appearing more full.

35 days to go. So far so good.

Day 6 Summary May 31st 2011

Another nutty day today. Working nights (1800-0600) but woke up before noon. Gonna be a long one.

1145 - wake, 3G - 4 caps, Alpha Male, pycnogenol, Vit E, Vit D3, Vit C
1245 - 1000 - 3/4 cup unsweetened granola, 4 tbsp natural yogurt, 1 banana sliced, 8 almonds, 1 tbsp ground flax; 2 scoops Grow! mixed with water (to be clear, the granola/banana/flax/almonds/yogurt are mixed in a bowl and eaten that way while the Grow! is taken as a shake)
1300 - cut the damn grass - it has been two weeks since I had a chance to do that and was beginning to fear that the neighbours would get together and form a lynch mob as I was clearly making the neighbourhood look bad
1515 - Neural Charge workout: 4 rounds of A1. High Pull x 5 A2. DB swing x 5 A3. Plyo Push Up x 5 A4. BW squat jump x 5 followed by 4 rounds of B1. box jumps x 5 B2. med ball slams x 5 B3. med ball chest throws x 5 B4. sprint start 20m. I followed that up with some Prowler work: 4 rounds of C1. explosive triple extension backwards pull (think high pull but w/ more horizontal rather than vertical line of pull x 10m C2. sprint push loaded Prowler back to start position 10m. This workout was fast, about half an hour and I felt fully amped up afterwards.
1600 - 2 scoops MAG-10
1640 - 1 1/2 bbq chicken breasts; grilled asparagus spears w/ olive oil/parmesan cheese; grilled portobello mushroom cap with tomato and cheddar cheese
1750 - 3G - 4 caps, Alpha Male, pycnogenol, Vit E, Vit C
1900 - 1 large bbq chicken breast; 1 cup quinoa w/onion/garlic/peppers/mushroom; 1/4 sliced bell pepper
2120 - 2 wild pacific salmon filets; 1/2 sliced bell pepper/ 1/4 avocado
0030 - 3G - 4 caps
0130 - 1 large bbq chicken breast; 1/2 cup quinoa w/onion/garlic/peppers/mushroom; 1 all natural protein bar w/ oats, local honey for sweetener (28 g protein, 36g carbs) - these bars have no preservatives and are delicious but I don't eat them very often having been on a low carb diet before. While using Indigo I feel that I was getting enough carbs for now from other sources so I didn't include any of these up til this point. The only reason I had one at this time is because I was at work, nothing else was available, and I was absolutely ravenous yesterday. I had eaten all of the food that I had brought with me to work before I had planned to and I needed something. In the end I had a few more carbs than I had planned for the day at this stage.
0600 - 250g cottage cheese, 4 Flameout, 3 ZMA

*note - I take 3 ZMA each day before bed but have forgotten to include it in previous summary posts

About the ravenous hunger - anyone else feeling the need to eat more than usual?

Also, I seem to be waking up feeling refreshed on less sleep than usual - anyone else experiencing this or is my system just shot from the irregular sleeping patterns?

Day 7 Summary June 1 2011

First day off from work in two weeks today. Only slept for 6 hours but woke up feeling king size surprisingly.

1220 - wake, 3G - 4 caps, Alpha Male, pycnogenol, Vit E, Vit C, nettle root, Vit D3
1230 - 1 cup black coffee
1320 - 3/4 cup unsweetened granola, 4 tbsp natural yogurt, 1/2 banana sliced, 8 almonds, 1 tbsp ground flax; 2 scoops Grow! mixed with water (to be clear, the granola/banana/flax/almonds/yogurt are mixed in a bowl and eaten that way while the Grow! is taken as a shake)
1330 - more grass cutting and then cleaning up around the house
1545 - 3G - 4 caps
1630 - 1 Spike tablet
1700 - workout drink - 3 x Surge Workout Fuel, 2 x ANACONDA, 1 x MAG-10; begin workout - scheduled for HP Mass back/bi's day but replaced it with Thib's recently posted very high volume back/bi's day and followed that up with the eccentricless back/bi's Prowler work outlined in HP Mass. My work capacity felt limitless today.
1900 - 2 scoops MAG-10
2000 - 2 wild pacific salmon filets; 1/2 sliced bell pepper; 1/4 avocado
2100 - 3G - 4 caps, Alpha Male, pycnogenol, Vit E, Vit C
2200 - 1 large bbq chicken breast; quinoa w/ mushrooms/peppers/onions/garlic; 1 slice Gouda cheese
2345 - 3 ZMA
0000 - 250g cottage cheese, 6 jalapeno stuffed olives, 4 Flameout

Weighed in again today and was surprised to see that my weight has dropped to 192.6. I was 195.1 the day before starting the Indigo and on day five I was still there at 195.2. I've used the same scale each time I've weighed in. I didn't expect to see this drop today given that I've been eating quite a bit more than usual. I'll weigh in again probably on day 10 - I'm interested to see where this goes from here.

Day 8 Summary June 2 2011

0920 - 1 cup black coffee
0955 - Tabata bike sprints

1100 - deep tissue massage - yay!
1300 - 1 wild pacific salmon filet, 1/2 sliced bell pepper, 1/4 avocado
1315 - running errands and boring stuff like that
1545 - 3G - 4 caps
1630 - 1 Spike tablet

Again I know this isn't in the program but I felt like I had the energy and my biceps really need some work as you'll see in the before shots that I'll post below.
1925 - 2 scoops MAG-10
2025 - 1 wild pacific salmon filets; 1/2 sliced bell pepper w/ roasted red pepper hummus; 1/4 avocado
2130 - 3G - 4 caps, Alpha Male, pycnogenol, Vit E, Vit C
2245 - 1 large grilled chicken breast; 1 cup quinoa with mixed veggies; 2 slices cheddar cheese
0030 - 3 ZMA, 250g cottage cheese, 4 Flameout

Stay tuned for some more crappy 'before' shots that were taken the day before starting Indigo. I'm just getting around to posting them now - mainly because they suck. I'm not happy with the quality of the photos (self shots and/or bad lighting) and I'm not happy with how I look in them either. A week into the Indigo run and I'm convinced the after shots are gonna be much better so with that in mind, here goes...

Unflexed back shot taken at the chiro's office. Terrible lighting and apparently the person taking the pic doesn't have very steady hands because it is a bit fuzzy.

The lighting washes everything out. Not that I'm particularly lean in the picture but there is a bit of definition in my back - at least I think there is.
