I jumprope to warm up all the time. I use Buddy Lee's program when I want to substitute jumproping for running.

OP I like your video!
I jump rope. Much more fun than running! I use a lot of different moves with it such as one leg hopping, scissors, jacks, skiing, travelling etc. It can load the muscles and bones from a variety of different angles if you are creative with it. And it looks impressive and feels great:)

I think jumprope is excellent, but I can never get into a rythm. I always end up landing on the rope or hitting myself in the toes or shin so it never gets me out of breath.

It just takes practice! Maybe try slowing down. Keep trying, it's worth it!

Well worth it!
I love a little rope jumping to get my legs ready for lifting (did it this morning!)
Find my legs getting quite sore, could be I don't do it enough as a warm-up.

Seems like a good place:
A great conditioning work out including jump rope:
You will need a rope, chin up bar and plyo boxes or a park bench/picnic table.
Set rope roughly 40 yards from chin bar.
1) Jump rope two minutes, run to box/bench
2) 15 full Rom jumps, run to chin bar
3) 10 chin ups/pull ups
4) 20 push ups
5) 40 yard Sprint to rope
Repeat, try to get 20 minutes.

Being that i boxed for years jumping rope was always apart of our training. I got bored and watched a youtube video of floyd mayweather doing his jump rope routine so I just copied that.

I tried that too...
But a few minutes in, I started having racist thoughts about Asians in the NBA so had to quit.
I kid...
I do jump rope as a substitute conditioner when the weather outside is foul enough to keep me from hill runs out on the trails.

I began it when i started seriously working out, defiantly not as complex as yours (my footwork needs some work to put it nicely) and i do it as a cool down. mines is basic regular jump rope for 30 seconds then R&L single leg jump ropes for the calves, and the running man jumprope i repeat it about twice

Jumping rope is great. You can do an infinite amount of training with it.
Sometimes i would go at a steady pace for 30 minutes to an hour for aerobic conditioning..mixing footwork and cross overs etc...
sometimes I would do it in 2 minute rounds with flurries and such every 10-15 seconds. You can do sprints in place for the flurries or if you hate yourself, double under sprints with a tuck jump.
Great for the calfs, footwork, coordination, shoulder endurance and handspeed.

When i did karate (had a 2nd D black) i wasnt that great at jump rope but i owned pretty hard in sparring. I questioned its worth.
Mike Tyson thought it was pretty cool. ( and he drank baby blood) Must have some kind of value i guess.
Its fun to do once in a while but..id rather just go out to the field and do some sprints.

Yep. The kids at the gym like to tease me because I'm supposed to be some big tough guy but I'm as good with a jump rope as any 8 year old girl in town lol

Does anyone do double unders? What is the point (other than being tricky)? Are they worth doing?

I use double unders as intervals. My rope cardio training includes 100 consecutive double unders followed by 5 minutes regular jumping to recover then back to 100 double unders. I usually go on like that for about 30 minutes.
Other than it being tricky...it's hard work. I think they're worth doing. IMO, my rope-based cardio wouldn't be as effective without them.

When i was part of the Uni boxing club we did 90sec intervals of speed skipping, then 10 push ups, 10 sit-ups, 10 squats and a 10 sec break. This was a warm up for 30 mins before each training session. I do the same now but not to the same intensity.

Jump rope is great conditioning tool. Cheap and effective. Great for all athletes and even good for powerlifter guys who want to stay athletic.
