FINiBARs Make Me Really Sleepy

For those of you using FINiBARs pre workout, do you ever experience severe drowsiness after eating them?

I've eaten two before working out the past two days and I can only assume that the large insulin spike is causing this. Shame because it hinders my workout. Anyway of offsetting this or should I just drop the FINiBARs? I have trouble overcoming it even with 400 mg caffeine.

I eat carbs in nearly every meal and don't experience this at any other time so it's pretty strange.

Way, how long before you workout are you eating the bars? 20-30min before you workout is around the time you should have them, i start 30min beforehand and because i'm doing the full protocol, 3 bars, 3scoops ANACONDA 2scoops MAG-10, i usually make sure i give extra time than i normally do between meals, in this case i start the protocol 3 1/2 hours after my last meal, so that my stomach is somewhat clear.

I find i really experience the "pulse" aspect by doing this, i'm usually pretty energized and awake, which is why i no longer need the use of caffeine.

Also, the carbs that are used in the bars should not cause a big crash but in fact stabalize your blood sugar levels way.

I mean I could fall asleep as soon as I finish the first one, haha. I stick to the timing suggested, but I feel immediately lethargic upon finishing them. I did hit a front squat PR today though so I guess I'll just deal with it.

I've seen suggested before to try one bar 30 minutes pre workout and one mid workout.

Thanks for the help, guys. I think I have it figured out now. I cut the volume of my breakfast by about 25% and I was able to handle the FINiBARs and liquid much better without feeling like crap.

If this is the case, I doubt your issues had anything to do with insulin as a response to consuming FINiBAR.

Rather, it seems that you simply were consuming more total food or carbohydrates than your body could handle without feeling drowsy at that particular time of day.

Yeah man I've been noticing it too, and I only eat one. It's generally the only carbs I eat until post-workout, too.
