i dont deadlift .not that it is a bad exercise but im afraid i ll snap something one day.Squats are definetely more appropriate for my build (5'6" with small hands so grip sucks a bit)

I'm 5'6 and very much built to squat also. I've got stubby fingers that put my grip at a disadvantage. (though my actual hands are pretty big) It just means I have to work harder.

Deadlift AND squat. Do you really think that your body is somehow too frail to pick heavy things up off the floor without snapping something?

There's a reason why your name is weakdude.

lmao dude!at least when you try to play the tough guy have some built ass photos to prove your claims brah.
i do whatever works for me.i injured my lower back once with deadlifts and i am gonna think it twice if i add them again anytime soon.better play it smart now and save some joint than cry later-lol
but yeah i know i m not badass as you deadlifters.
inb4 been called 'pussay'

by the way i can squat your double (300lbs) for fun 10 times with o-shoes and a close stance and i consider myself a wimp.stronglegsarestrong.jpg

and I bench your squat ...

Yeah, but you probably don't bench in OL shoes, so it doesn't count.

Just deadlift and shut up!
Isolation training is not something I really have time for. I can only get 1 - 1.5 hours 5-6 days a week.

I really only train the big 3 and pullups/pushups each day. And I rarely do "cardio".
I am nothing special but I am an average joe w/ limited time who needs more bang for my buck in the gym.

My body comp improved substantially once I got away from bb splits, "weight lifting" machines, and hour long sessions on cardio machines and I started to focus on the big 3 a la 5/3/1.
And I spend less time actually training....
peace

Yeah, if you never want to be anything but an average joe just keep doing what your doing.

Your collective responses to my post are unhelpful.
Sorry, I forgot I was talking to a bunch of underwear models that do 10 sets of curls in the squat rack.
AND only for 20 mins 4 days a week. A total of 80 minutes is of course all that a natural body builder spends training per week.
This is sarcasm by the way....
later...
make sure not to do a single pull-up if it is the day after your bicep day.
Oh....wait...what do you do if you happen to jack off? do you you have to wait 48 hours before your next bicep curl?
later Jersey Shore wanna-be douchebag B_I_T_C_H_E_ES....

^^ @tnationpaleo... In a non douchey way... He's right.

Have you ever seen anyone build an impressive physique doing what you described? (the answer is no)

FYI, Wanting to improve your numbers on the "big 3" doesn't equal excluding isolation work. Good luck.

EDIT: the comment above was in response to your comment where you quoted the other poster and NOT to your last post. You come across as an immature know it all with your last post. FYI, you DON'T know it all and would be well served by listening to others.

You're not going to take my advice seriously so I won't bother to continue explaining things. Good luck with your goals.

tnationpaleo, plz do us all a favor and go back to college. I apologize if you have an autistic-spectrum disorder which , in this case, would substantiate the plethora of retardation in your posts.

He didnt say he wanted to look impressive. He said he was an avaerage joe with little time and had better results with 5/3/1 instead of bbing splits. Your reading comprehension makes me think.......

I hate you.

not surprisingly the guys with the best backs in history were 700+ lbs deadlifters (Coleman, Johnnie Jackson , even BB powerlifters like Matt Kroc)

They're all roiders so don't count.

Before anybody bashes me for saying this.. I want to let you all know I train the deadlift 1-3x a week and it is in my workouts.

However, I personally know somebody who recently deadlifted *711* pounds and does not have an impressive back or traps. Yes, they are developed; but no more than some gym jock who just did 1 day a week splits for about a year without really knowing what they are doing.

Strength does not ALWAYS equal size. The actual Deadlift movement in the 1x1,1x3,1x5 rep ranges has not always proven to be a top mass builder; it is a strength movement.

Like people said, I do also believe Stiff Legged/RDL/Rack Pulls in the higher rep ranges are an excellent hamstring or trap/overall back exercise depending on the variation.

But just because you deadlift 700 pounds doesn't mean you will be big.Too many people show this testimony with their impressive 700+ deadlifts.

I want to also add my friend that deadlifts 700, has PENCIL arms and forearms. I think they're probably 14-15 inches max,and his forearms are non-existent. He does have incredible quads though, but pretty sure that's because his 600+ squat got him that

Ben Rice and Richard Hawthorne are my favorite examples of this.

The nod at 4:52 gets me every time.
