Anyway i'm getting amongst my first comp in 2 1/2 weeks, was going to post some progress cut photos in here as i go along.

Heres a side tri, i'm not exactly sure if i'm holding it correctly, i think i should have my shoulders pinned back slightly more? apreciate any critiques

I'm not sure it was because you idolised Zyzz, that you were not well recieved. I think you know why.

Anywa,y all that aside, you're upper body looks good. But you should post all your mandatory poses.

Upper triceps are thick, chest is anatomically well-structured, you lucky bastard :)

But yes, I would lift the chest a little and pinch the 'blades together a little.

Actually what you should realise about competition posing is that there is no 'right' or 'wrong', just what looks BEST for YOU. So experiment and have friends take pics from floor level (or you stand on a table) since this will replicate what the judges see and allow you to pose for maximum visual effect.

Good luck.

^Exactly. When you look back at all the 'greats' in the sport, you'll see they all have at least one subtle variation of a pose that just makes it theirs. As everyone's structure can be quite varied, find what shows off your strengths best, and hides your weaknesses just as well.

Let the mirror be your partner in this endeavor.

hard to tell if you're not posing, but from those pictures I would say you look good.

Stopped watching at 2:42.

You are extremely 'raw', i.e. starting from a beginners place. I'm sure you know this. However I don't think I saw a single pose that could really be classified as a 'mandatory' - they were too unfocussed and poorly positioned.

Go and look at some posing vids on youtube. Look at TimMcBrides clip on his comp prep thread.

If you are only a few weeks out from your show, then you must PRACTICE, or you risk looking like a fool. Do you know any competitive BBers? If so, ASK for their help. Most will give it, gladly - as long as you are polite and respectful.

And for your next show, be sure to bring those legs up; they are quite behind the upper body.
