Not a big fan of his physique but this is a good shot.

And don't be fooled that Franco's 18-19 inch arms will mean yours will look good at the same size. He is a short mofo.

Most are over powered by shoulders and arms. They are still huge they just look smaller.

Definately strong and muscular, but I never cared for his attitude too much. Always seemed very cocky. As far as his numbers they're definately pumped up. He has claimed to be stronger and more muscular than Arnold....Don't think so.

But hey I'm not going to take anything away from the man, he is definately a pretty recognizable character in the bodybuilding industry.

I wouldn't doubt if he was stronger than Arnold. There are plenty of pics of Franco benching 5 plates/side while I don't see too many of Arnold putting up huge numbers.

Great pics. Always a fan of Colombu's physique, just damn powerful and thick looking. He did always come across as a cocky little SOB though. I read his autobiography, and it comes through prety evidently.

Ben White is no slouch, either. There are videos of him benching 700 pounds.

No offense To Johnnie Jackson, but I never understood why people claim he's the strongest bodybuilder. I've seen vids of Ronnie Coleman, Branch Warren, Kevin Levrone and even Dexter Jackson handling more weight in various exercises [save the dead] than he can. Oh yeah, Colombu's a tank.

I've never seen pictures of him benching five plates per side. Could you post them?

My mistake. In a few pictures in this thread he's about 10 pounds short of 5 plates per side. Nothing to sneeze at, that's for sure.

I was referencing the fact that Johnnie was a powerlifter before switching to BBing.

I wasn't picking at what you wrote, just the statement in general. I've read/heard that claim a handful of times and I can't understand it. He's obviously strong, but there are a handful of BB'ers that are much stronger.

Think it was called an arm blaster. Locked your elbows in place and made it hard to cheat. Haven't seen one in a gym in years. I thought they were pretty cool.

Franco was a major inspiration for me as a teen (since I'm short as well). I still have his 2 books. Yeah, he was cocky, but I guess you can't blame the little bastard. He was an amateur boxing champ in Italy, so I'm sure he could kick ass if the need arose. But like another short champ, Lee Priest, he did have a great sense of humor.

Damn... this thread has me all nostalgic for those days again.
