How is your ankle flexibility? Have you ever tried squatting in weightlifiting shoes with an elevated heel? your shins look very vertical

Sick strength. I hope to be squatting 405x5 soon. That being said, I'd be more impressed by 405x1 done properly. Squats above parallel with poor form don't make me jealous.

i'll start by saying this. im not a powerlifter and squat day is my quad day. i have a seperate ham day.
that being said i try to do what works for me. My legs and body in general has made more progress this past 6 months than i ever have. i typically do some lighter higher rep sets... i was feeling "froggy" so i bumped the weight up.
i will probably never squat much lower than this as it starts hitting more glutes and hams if i go deeper. i'm more into the body building aspect than anything... is the form great for meet standards? no, definately not.
also that wood floor is about as slick as carpet.
lol bullshit excuses.
If you want to squat for quads, bring your stance WAY in, swallow the ego and squat deep, either that or don't squat at all. All you're doing is tightening up your hip flexors, putting all the strain mostly on your low back (not quads) and causing unnecessary IT band tightness if you're going to hack your depth like that.
There's a lot of other leg exercises with better reward to risk ratio then squatting high and wide.
This is fuckin retarded....How the hell are YOU able to assess his available ranges (passive or active) by watching a fuckin movie....And what the hell is unnecessary IT band tightness? It's supposed to be fuckin tight, and furthermore even if it was tight what could you do about it? The thing has the same tensile strength as steel for christs sake, you can tow a truck with the fuckin thing. You do hear me talking about how Volkswagen is too tight and I need to stretch it out...some shit is so retarded....and narrowing a stance does not make it a "quad" exercise. There are so many variables it's not even funny. The most annoying thing is people just shoving empirically backed bullshit down peoples throats like it's tasty science....it's not...

Good question, but how is reducing depth in a squat any different than increasing available dorsi-flexion for this issue? This kind of shit is why there are no rules to exercise.

You guys are crying as if he couldn't do a single PL legal squat with 405.
He had at least a triple in him to PL legal depth.
Also, lol @ form warriors, especially 'BigRedMachine87'. Probably some punk kid who squats in the 200's.
It's always the weak guys that obsess about form.

I have no problem with people who obsess about mechanics. It's the biases that drive me nuts.

with squat form in the op, i'd rather not see your deadlift as i do not think i would enjoy bleeding from my eyes

To me it looked like you were right at parallel for the first rep maybe a little higher on the last few ones, but good squat none the less just keep your back tight and upright and I'm sure you could hit it to below parallel at least once. Props man

To be honest I thought this video looked pretty damn good, sure you could have went a tad lower, but most of the reps hit parallel, or right within an inch of it
But to be honest, the poster of this vid kinda sounds like a D bag and to say he wants to squat high because he is just working on his quads is retarded on so many levels. First of all, why the hell do you split up your leg days, almost all effective leg exercises work your whole lower body, so thats just a dumb split
And in the end of the day, if you really are focused on working your quads, check out my vid i just posted, I squat with raised heels, narrow stance, and hit depth with a couple inches lower just to be safe that its legit. If you are serious about hitting quads, raise your heel, narrow your stance. And btw, to the people talking as if they know everything, you guys realize pro bodybuilders like Jay Cutler use smith machines all the time. Different things work for different people, all we have are general principals with lifting, dont act like its all dogmatic

I dropped weight and have kept the weight going up and up. Don't let "I'm on a caloric deficit" be a reason you drop your weights. If anything push harder and give your body a reason to hold onto muscle. Just my 2 cents.

i'm down to 210 now and leanest i've been... 365x6 still... 405 single right now is probably not even possible... planning on staying sub 220lbs for a few months then will try to put on some size again, and hopefully quite a bit of strength.

yeah this is the depth i squat to... any lower and it starts getting tough on knees.. elevated heels makes it even rougher on knees. my legs are pretty decent and keep getting bigger... i'll stick to what im doing on the 2 day lower body split.

thats just for all the people giving advice who probably dont even have the strength or physique i do.... you dont take dieting advice from fat people, right? just like you dont take lifting advice from weak, little people.

Man I'd be terrified to squat in just socks. Especially on that surface.
