Okay, I'm definitely in. I did 175 for 2x2 on strict OHP today. It looks like I'll be ending my training cycle at 205x1. Next cycle, I'm looking to get the magic 2 plate OHP at about 195 lbs and 17 y/o. Super pumped. So, in about another three and a half months, I'll have a respectable OHP to post in here.

Post your progress, keep the thread alive.
Did you notice that the current challenge is reverse grip? You should check out the earlier z-press challenge.

Haha, nope. I just went straight to the last page. But, I'll check out the z-press, for sure. I'm sticking with the strict OHP for now. It's been a goal of mine for a while.

Do the z-press if you like strict. You will see.
Plus, one of the first to accomplish a body weight lift just won California's Strongest Man, sub-200lbs and is looking to press a 300 lbs log one of these days (if not already).

Hah. No that gym is a broom closet filled with what looks like half hand made equipment from the 80s and never been repaired. It is the only gym in the town. Its maybe 300 square feet. You have to move stuff around to deadlift or snything.
Thanks.

I am disappointed. I have no rack but I have a bed frame. Guest can sleep on a mattress on the floor.

Hmmm. Interesting. I think once I get to the 2 plate strict overhead, I'll switch to the z-press. Looks awesome.

Damn right! they do work for big overhead. I haven't hit 300 yet probably changing to working on my axle press for awhile.

^ been wanting to get an axel set-up. Stopped looking over the winter, guess it is time to look again. Thinking of hit a car part pick lot.
Used a log today made out of 6x6 beams bolted together (180 lbs.). Got the clean fine but could not get it set for the press. The guys said I was leaning way back to try to get to rest on my chest.
Good new is my new log is under construction and should come in at about the same weight. I will add pins once it gets easy. Probably same size pipe as my axel will be so I can add wheels eventually.

Sounds dumb, the whole point of the OH Press is that it incorporates the whole body from foot to hands, z-press takes out the legs. Might as well bench press. Is there even any carry over to sports with the z-press?

^ No BC actually all it would do would be to increase your strict OH press strength.

My arms would shoot out of my shoulder sockets if I attempted to unrack 315 for an overhead press.

Some nice action going on in here.
I am experimenting with a wider grip on my OHP; did z-presses and once I got my head through it seemed easier, probably the shorter path. Felt good on the shoulder that was getting cranky.

I don't know Zydrunas Savickas invented them and swears by them and has probably the strongest shoulders of all time...... they shouldn't REPLACE overhead pressing they are an accessory lift to increase your overhead.
Of course they would have benefit to sport they require a ton of core stability.
