I've recently been asked to participate in a milk-drinking contest. 1 gallon. 1 hour. Whoever can hold it down wins a money prize. If more than one person can hold it down, then the prize money is split among the winners.

Has anyone done this before? Does anyone know any tricks that help to keep vomit at bay? In the past I've drank a half gallon in 20 minutes. Any words of wisdom (besides "Don't do it")?

Drink 1 gallon in one hour? Hmm....sounds deceptively simple.

Never tried milk, but have chugged beer in mass volume, along with water.

I'd say start with an empty stomach and drink slowly but steadily.

according to the link you'll need a jacket and a toaster. also it's best not to use the halloween edition oreos....also the guy in the article certainly doesn't lift so i'll bet if you squat right before the first 2 quarts will go straight to your legs meaning you'll only have to hold a half gallon in your stomach unlike the non-lifter types who'll have to stomach the full gallon.

I drink 1/2 a gallon of whole milk each morning with 2 scoops of Grow! in it.

I normally drink it during commercial breaks in the morning radio show I listen to which is maybe 3-4 minutes.

I could easily do it again 20-30 minutes later. I'd be uncomfortable but it'd be a breeze. Holding it down wouldn't be a concern.

Start practicing chugging it a 1/2 gallon at a time, then 45 miutes later do it again. No problem.

Almost no one can do this, despite people often claiming they can. At my gym several years back somebody was offering 500 bucks to people if they could do it and nobody did but a lot of people threw up. The lactose is too much for most people to handle.

If you can bring your own milk and get lactaid milk or something like that then you might be able to do it, or as another poster suggested try taking lactaid tablets before hand, that might work. Good luck, it is harder than it seems.

Most of the people I have known who tried it failed. It sounds SOOO easy, and everyone talks big about what they would do, but zero people I know have done it. One of my friends said toward the end you could literally feel how much of it was in your stomach, and drinking the last glass or two you could feel it rising it seemed in your throat.

The guy who did it on that web page used Skim milk, I was under the impression that whole milk was harder for some reason. Maybe the fats keep the milk in your stomach longer.

1 gallon in an hour is not that big a deal. Do not squat before. Do not do it on an empty stomach, but do not eat a buffet before. Drink the first half gallon in the first 10 minutes and wait until the last 15 minutes when the other fools have rushed in. Leisurely drink the last half, as first half has settled and will enable you to keep it all down.

I go through 3 gallons of whole milk a week, so I think you can do it bro.

Really? I won $20 for downing 3L (0.8 gallons) of full cream in an hour. I am pretty confident that I could have done more. On that same day I won $50 for being able to eat a whole wheat-bix in a minute, which was far more difficult (do they even have wheat-bix in the US?). Camping trips rule.

I've drank a half gallon in 30 minutes along with a half pound of blue steak, several ounces of cheese, a ton of peanut butter and some nuts.

That was difficult but doable. I think I could have done the full gallon. The worst part is brain freeze.

This was the night before I got tommy john surgery. Had load up because they made me fast after 12am the day of the op. I woke up after surgery and ate 2 boxes of triscuits, a steak, a brick of cheese, a half of a chicken, a protein shake, 4 cups of cranberry juice, and a few cups of milk. That was an odd day.

Thinking of that, I now have some prescription anti-nausea meds that I never used.

I say we have a challenge of our own!

Anyone who thinks they can do it, DO IT; and video tape it.

There are a lot of "I'm pretty sure I could do it" but I want to see it.

Anyone who can complete this will get a proverbial pat on the back from all of the doubters.

Then, out of all the winners, a new challenge. How much more than a gallon of milk can you drink in an hour?

I've never heard of a wheat-bix, so I'm guessing they don't.

What's a wheat-bix?

A few years ago my brother and I worked in an Amish style buffet in the kitchen and had access to all the food and drinks we wanted. One of the other cooks dared him that he couldn't drink a gallon in one sitting and he ended up doing it in 12 minutes and keeping it all down.

It was 2% but I doubt that matters too much. He complained about pure liquid shits for the next few days but ended up walking with almost $200 from bets with the other kitchen staff. Go for it.

I've heard it's humanly impossible to drink a gallon of milk in 1 hour and keep it down without throwing up because of lactic buildup, but I might be wrong.

A friend and I both tried this last semester. He puked about 3/4 of the way through, but I finished the gallon in 45 minutes. I puked it up shortly thereafter. You can see my empty milk jug in the video.

I'm pretty positive if I waited 10 minutes to finish my last bit I could've held it all down. My friends and I are trying it again on May 4, so I'll post results and videos on this thread.

My video:

It is definitely possible. The band 311 did a contest on their home video and paid $311 to whoever could do it, 2 guys won. It's just hard to do.

I tried it at a football cookout my senior year.... i did not make it.

I went at it too hard and fast(TWSS)
and after i downed the first 3/4 of it in the first 15 minutes, i almost spewed.

I think i might be able to do it now, after spending 6 months putting a half gallon down in one sitting each night, but i still think its damn tough. I think you would have to prep for it most likely, maybe a little HFT.

Each participant supplies their own gallon of milk in addition to paying a $3 entry fee. The winner receives the entry fees of all the losers. Last year the money prize was $80.
Wheatabix is a delicious cereal that is popular in the U.K but less so in the States. You can buy it at co-ops. It's like eating a sponge -- you lose ALL your saliva.

Regarding footage, don't worry. I want video and pics of everything worth seeing. I'll share the juicy stuff.

I've two strategies. The first is to drink 3 oz. per minute for the first 8 minutes followed by 2 oz. per minute for the remaining 52 minutes. The other choice is 16 oz. the first four minutes and 8 oz. for each four minute block thereafter. I'm leaning toward the second option -- it just feels right.

Any tips on eating for the day of?

Maybe this is hard or "impossible" for people under 200 pounds or something. I have done this several times and so have a few people I know.

I would do it and video it, but where the hell am I going to upload close to an hours worth of video? And who would sit and watch it?

I know I can do it, but I don't know about recording it. When I was "incarcerated" and worked in the kitchen, a group of us would do this and challenge newcomers all the time. I've seen one kid do it in under 40 minutes and hold it down. It can hurt, but it's not that hard if you practice for it.

I've always thought the 8-10 ounces every 5-6 minutes was easiest, but I wonder how a 2 oz shot every minute would work.
