DAMN! I didn't think anyone would even know who Paul Plakas was. :/

I met him, you know. I have his autograph on a post-it note taped to my mirror.

"To Jen:
Eat clean, train hard"

That's what it says...

Red Deer also has that Sylvan Lake place. Though last time I went there it was all water and almost no beach. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?

I may or may not have had to google him and read up on his website. I'd heard of those shows though. You know he doesn't even have a wikipedia page? And is he skinny in person? He looked a little on the skinny side on his website. Or maybe I'm just tired.

That's what happens when the population as a whole gets fat enough that normal folk sunbathing becomes harmful to the eyes. Simultaneously saving your retinas and forcing people at the beach to swim (ie exercise). Brilliant.

Michael J Fox was born here.

Paul Plakas (a fitness expert) is also from here. He has hosted shows such as X Weighted and umm oh ya, taking it off.

GOOO EDMONTON!!

I don't want this thread to die :(

Yeah I know. Actually, over the past summer they moved part of the main road back a bit to extend the beach which is good. The lake is great for boating and taking out the SeaDoo, but if you want some beach head over down the road to Gull Lake, huge beach area.

I guess if you're just passing through all you would see is Gas Alley! Haha, there is actually a bit more to it then that.

Well I am sure one thing we can all agree on is that Alberta has wonderful beef.

Way to go province!

I also forgot to mention Edmonton's high level bridge streetcar.

If anyone comes to town for a visit hit me up. I am a member of the Edmonton Radial Railway society so I've got all the streetcar related connections ;)

While I would actually consider taking you up on this, pretty sure I wouldn't stick around in Edmonton long enough to have spare time for something like that haha. Going to be making the trip at the end of the month, but pretty sure I won't have any spare time while I'm up there.

I'm originally from Gleichen, aka "happy valley". A lot of drunk beggars and nothing too significant.

Calgary is nice. No natural disasters, chinooks, a good gym, a lot of opportunity, and close to the mountains. People complain about the weather but all things considered I think it's one of the better places to be in the world.

I can see where he's coming from. Looking at that bear, she is kinda furry and cuddly looking. . .

Okay I'm totally kidding about one part of that description. . .

Mostly I'm bumping this so Spock stops crying about how the thread dropped off the first page.

Partly I was going to ask if anyone else has their motorcycles out yet?

Shameless bump.

For all you queers up in Edmonton, the Western Canadian Weightlifting Championships (that's olympic lifting, ie snatch, clean and jerk, for those of you who get confused) will be in Edmonton this coming Saturday (March 31). There will be a female Olympian from BC competing, and there should be some good lifting from some of the guys as well. If anybody's interested or intrigued, it's always nice to have fans . . .

Can't remember the location off the top of my head but if anybody responds to this or PMs me or cares in any way shape or form I'll find it and post it.

EDIT: Could be 2 female Olympians competing. See below.

I could be wrong TheJonty, but I think there will be 2 Olympians. I think Jeanne Lassen might be there.

Just looked at the BC weightlifting web site, they've got their team posted on the home page and I didn't see Jeanne on there. Couple other strong (but not quite as strong as Jeanne) lifters going for them at 75.

EDIT: I'm an idiot. See below.

She won't be lifting for BC. I think she's from Yukon or somewhere northerly like that :)

You are entirely 100% correct, she is from the great white north. And I definitely knew that. Wow I must be tired or something.

Just in case anyone is down near Calgary and runs into a guy on a bike called Butch (but he's from Elkford B.C) that's my brother.
