I thought Ultron was a solid enough blockbuster flick, but disappointing a bit a) given my (possibly unfair) expectation and b) given that it relied so much on being part of the wider MCU plan, and doesn't stand on its own nearly as well as the first Avengers movie or the better solo films.

I get that the continuity of the universe is one of the greatest assets of this undertaking(the entire thing, not just the Avengers titles), but this movie felt so reliant on it instead of weaving it in while still just being a good self-contained title(the first Avengers didn't really use the previous movies stories other than Stark Tower being born from the element he created in IM2, it was about bringing in all the characters+Loki, but it made up for that by just being a better stand alone movie, while on the other end of the spectrum is Winter Soldier seamlessly including a ton of stuff from the other films despite not being the 'team up' movie).

Still an enjoyable enough movie, I'd probably give it a solid 7.5 or so.

I pretty much agree, but I'm not sure the first Avengers would of been as good had we not seen Loki first in Thor. I thought the biggest issue with Ultron is that most people just don't know much about him and his creation just seemed a bit forced to me. I personally think hey could of cut out a lot of the opening sequence and portions of the Hawkeye stuff to better explain who / what / why Ultron was created.

I'm not very critical of movies though so I'd give it an 8 or so as I would all the other Marvel movies.

(I liked Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern though so take my opinion with a grain of salt...)

"Perfume"

Totally unexpected!
Beautifully filmed, the sets, setting, costumes and acting were tops.

Seductive and repulsive simultaneously.

Eh, wanted more action. Whole thing didn't really make sense. Ending was hokey.

hated that movie with the fire of a million suns!

Would've been 30 seconds long it if weren't for all the dumb stock footage they used.

I love Lucy. And liked the movie.

Saw Mad Max Fury Road. The car chases and action scenes were just spectacular, which was at least half the movie anyways, but still!!! Very fun movie. So good to see that the majority of the action in the movie was special effects and not CGI. Nothing like some good old stuntmen crashing cars.

I was blown away. This is old school film making at it's finest. So many "holy shit!" moments, and when characters die, you fucking feel it.

Mad Max Fury Road--wow. Excellent movie. I'll go so far and say I actually liked it BETTER than the original.
This movie shit all over that pile o' crap The Avengers.

Here is a nice read on the movie and the Franchise as a whole. It talks about the stunts and everything else in between.

I read that there wasn't very much Max in the movie and it was more about Charlize Theron, anyone confirm?

He was in it just as much as her. Who cares that a badass woman like Charlize Theron was just as important in the movie as was Hardy as Max? I can't believe people are really complaining about that. Get a life.

On another note, anybody realize the main bad guy Immortan Joe(the guy with the bane like mask), was Toe Cutter from the very first Mad Max? I didn't realize until i looked up the credits. Pretty cool.

Yup. In addition, Charlize Theron's character is closer to Urma Thurman's in Kill Bill than Kate Bekinsale's in Underworld. She bleeds, gets her ass kicked, cries, gets freaked out and doesn't somehow possess superior physical strength than the bigger, muscular males. And there were no gratuitous penis jokes just to get the female crowd cheering.

Agreed. It was a kick in the pants.

Might I add that the first appearance of the five beauties was completely mesmerizing. The contrast...the contrast was striking.
