My boyfriend and I just completed the strict 28-day phase of the V-Diet and I wanted to share our results. Immediately prior to starting the V-Diet, we got our body fat measured via hydrostatic analysis and today (28 days later), we got dunked again. We followed the diet exactly as posted, along with the suggested Waterbury training program. It was by no means a fun diet, but it definitely got the job done. Without further ado, here are the results:
Me (Female, 22)
Before/After:
Weight: 126lb / 118lb
Body Fat: 20.4% / 14.7%
My lean body mass went from 100.3lb to 100.6lb, so I literally lost nothing but fat.
Boyfriend (Male, 25)
Before/After:
Weight: 204lb / 187.75lb
Body Fat: 24.1% / 17.8%
Again, he lost only .5lb of lbm, so again, nearly -all- of the weight lost was fat.
It was actually kind of funny, we had the same operator for both hydrostatic tests, and he was floored by our results. He actually started laughing at one point because results like this in such a short period of time are so incredible - not only did we lose weight, but we lost almost -no- muscle.
I've attached some of my before/after pictures. We'll be following the transition as slated as well, so it's possible we'll continue losing fat.
As miserable as I was on this diet, the results are undeniably impressive. I didn't experience much of a taste change, but I ate fairly clean before this (though too low on protein, I'm sure) so that may have had an impact. In any case, I definitely got a bit obsessive about researching nutrition and weight training programs in all my extra free time, so I doubt I'll have too much trouble staying fit and healthy post-diet.
