Switched things up to a little more 'extreme' this time around: http://tnation.T-Nation.com/...y/vdiet_extreme

Went from 185 down to 160 (loss of 25 lbs in 6 weeks). Strength has all but remained.

Thanks for the support! Adding in the Pulse Fasts seemed to really speed things up, and was also an awesome and welcome change to the monotony of the standard shakes! A couple extra HSM's were added to take advantage of the rebound/window from the Pulse Fasts, so this might not be the best approach for a first time V-Diet if looking to re-program bad eating habits...but it made things a lot more pleasant since I'm not a fan of the taste of protein shakes.

Have since dropped another 4 lbs and have added in some Pulse Feasting with the new MAG-10 and Anaconda. Will likely maintain this througout the summer until we look into some clean building with the Indigo-3G. Best of luck! (not that luck really has anything to do with it)

Not at all! 158 - 160 is my new 'normal' weight. I've never been a 'big' guy...never really will....but at 5 ft 8, I'm happy with where I'm at.

First photo was at 185 - after very dirty bulking all fall and winter. The 25 lbs was a ton of fat and bloat, but I am up about 8 - 10 lbs of lbm since the previous year. The previous year's vdiet phase left me around 148 ripped....this time I can't really get lower than 158, but look as good, if not better than the previous year. We are very excited to bulk with Indigo this time around...no more unhealthy dirty bulking!

No idea what my bodyfat is now, maybe pushing into the 9 - 10% range? I'm currently 158 and pretty vascular with a 6 pack popping!

I'm 2nd in from the right here...

Have a bit of water bloat as we were pretty carb'd up for the Rebel Race that day.

Thanks!

As for Indigo-3G, purchased it, but haven't started using it yet. Want to make sure the diet is dialed in to get the full benefits as it's going to be kinda weird eating more food/carbs than what we have been doing lately. Since the V-Diet, we've been using the new MAG-10 and Anaconda religiously..along w/ FINiBARs for peri. The pumps and energy in the gym are insane, and the convenience of only eating 1 solid meal a day really works perfect for our schedule.

Right now our diet looks like:

9am MAG-10 pulse
12pm FINiBAR
12:45 pm 1/2 Anaconda
1pm - 2pm workout and other 1/2 Anaconda
3pm MAG-10 pulse
5pm MAG-10 pulse
7pm Solid meal (usually pretty clean, but don't sweat it too much since it's more like a pulse feast type deal)
10pm MAG-10 pulse

Weekends have been re-feeds with mostly healthy stuff, and a few MAG-10 pulses, but again..not really sweating it and have been enjoying some goodies as well.

There's definitely some body re-comp going on with this, and our strength has returned and increased. Muscles are full again, and vasularity is still increasing. We usually have a little water bloat from the weekend...but that disappears within a day or 2 of the normal weekly routine. I don't think we'll ever do the V-Diet again given this new protocol..it could easily be tweaked to cut weight, and it tastes soooooo good. I actually just put my buddy on a similar setup minus the FINiBARs to cut some weight. He tried the V-Diet in the past but was unable to stand the taste, and headaches he was getting after about a week and a half of trying...so far he's loving this!

Hoping to start Indigo-3G soon, but really want to make sure the food/carbs are increased enough to make it totally worth it. Also have had some lower back issues the past few weeks which has made deadlifting and heavy squatting impossible. Want to be 100% when we switch on the clean building cycle with Indigo-3G. :)

Hey Evan,

Im thinking of starting the V-Diet at the start of January. You seem to get great results so would like to know if I should start with the beginner V-diet or this new program you've created.
At the moment I'm 24, 5' 11', 195 lbs and 17% body fat. Looking to drop 20 lbs and feel ripped. Any ideas appreciated.

Sorry for the delay, just saw this post.

My honest recommendation - since this is your first vdiet - is to do it 100% exactly as written. We've done it 3 times now, and will be doing it a 4th time in April since we use the vdiet as a way to clense and shred for spring/summer, albeit with our own tweaks to make it more extreme.... but our first go was done exactly as laid out in the vdiet plan on the site. I think that's crucial to not only get the best results, but break the bad habits and get comfortable w/ the overall structure of the plan. It's by no means easy, but by follwing it to the letter the first time, I'd think you'd have less chance to deviate and more chance for success. We've seen 20+ lbs come off each time through, and the tweaks we've added only changed the rate as which we lost weight for the most part. (plus I have a hard time w/ the taste of the protein shakes..so the mag10 pulses were my saving grace aside from holding my nose and chuggin' everytime it's time for a shake)

Also, the first time through was pretty much hell the first week or 2, but once you get over that 'hump', it's pretty much smooth sailing. We had headaches, nausea, fatigue, etc. the very first go, but didn't really experience any of those any subsequent times through the plan, even w/ the more extreme tweaks. (the weird side effects do come on pretty strong each time though - enhanced sense of smell, trouble sleeping, etc)

This time around I plan the following:

Meal 1 - vdiet breakfast shake from plan
Meal 2 - MAG-10 pulse
Workout - Anaconda
Meal 3 - MAG-10 Pulse
Meal 4 - vdiet dinner shake from plan
Meal 5 - vdiet shake from plan + Nut Butter or MAG-10 pulse (will probably switch those up throughout the diet)

I don't think we'll include any Pulse Fasts this time, but we'll still keep the daily fasted cardio w sips of MAG-10 in place since that really seemed to help. I've been on indigo but will probably drop that during the diet since I don't think i'll be taking in enough carbs, but will resume once we transition out. We might even wrap this up after 1.5 - 2 months with the 6 days to shredded to see just how ripped we can get: http://www.T-Nation.com/...edded_in_6_days

Let me know if you have any questions or need any additional advice. G'luck!
