Day 12 4/13/12

Another one bites the dust. Got in my NEPA between walking the dog in the morning and walking to the bank on lunch.

Forgot my log for the workout and think I ended up going a little light. But I felt good and pushed myself. I almost did a plank for 60secs.

Sumo DL - 155# - 9,9,9,9,4
Incline DB BP - 45# - 9,9,8,6,6,2
Lat wide grip - 110# - 8,9,6,6,7,4
plank - 50sec and 35 secs

Day 13 4/14/12

Today was HSM day and it was damn good. I'm not sure it was the perfect HSM but it was damn good. We split a Cobb salad with just oil and vinegar. So some good mixed greens, half a hard boiled egg, some turkey, ham, and avocado. Then I got an 8oz bison burger (no bun) with some crumbly blue cheese and 2 slices of bacon and a side of asparagus. The only thing I'm not sure about is the blue cheese and bacon. Do you think the bacon and blue cheese was bad?

I also played a round of golf and it was really nice to be outside for a few hours. No drinking and was able to get my other shakes in.

Tomorrow is the VBURN!

Day 14 4/15/12

I completed the V Burn in 18min40sec this morning which I was pretty excited about. I'm still struggling with the hand walkouts but they're getting better.

Today was one of the worst days I've had with food. We had a joint wedding shower today and there were the typical foods, bread bowl, shrimp cocktail, taco dip, cupcakes, clams casino, bullshit frozen foods (which I've never really enjoyed) and some other junk. I think where I made the mistake was deciding to do my HSM last night in celebration of my fiancee's birthday instead of at the shower. This forced me to sit there through the entire event and not eat or drink which was really tough. Honestly, I felt left out. I wasn't hungry because I came prepared but I would have been happy just eating some shrimp and taco dip without chips or at least bringing something that complied with the HSM requirements.

I suppose this struggle is half of the point and the fact that I got through the entire event with out eating anything, not one single god damn thing, man it was hard, will make me stronger in the future. It will make me even more prepared to be successful with future dietary and fitness goals.

Enough crying! time to move on to the next day. Another shake, another day.

Man, awesome job not eating anything at the event. That sounded brutal. I have a couple events in the next few weeks to deal with, but nothing like a wedding shower! What's cool is you did it. Too bad they didn't have a chocolate Metabolic Drive fountain...

So I've been MIA since the end of week two. I have had a couple of crazy busy weeks which has not only affected my posting but my workouts as well. Outside of missing workouts I stuck with the diet strong with absolutely no missteps through week three. At the end of week three I had two bachelor parties, on the same weekend, that involved going out to dinner. I decided to participate and ate an HSM both nights. Which would have only been one extra HSM but then I got stuck at work for 14 hrs on the Monday following and ate a chicken salad for dinner. I had a work function on Wednesday and opted to eat with everyone and had a chicken salad. So long story short week 4 ended up being more like a half transition week. Although I was technically breaking the diet I tried following the same HSM rules and did a sort of V diet lite for week 4. I'm now on day two of week 5 and I am enjoying eating again. I was down to 262 the other day and have not done my official measurements yet. I plan on doing those in the morning and will post then.

So I didn't do the entire V diet correctly. I have seen some decent results of weight loss and some great results on the tape measure. I absolutely gained the knowledge and self-control to say no to food I shouldn't eat which was my biggest goal. It has been truly empowering to know I am able to say no to foods I never have before.

Transition day 3 here I come.
