What's up guys, I posted awhile ago about how i leaving for basic soon and I just came here to update. Well I graduated bct on the 15th and now I'm in Redstone starting EOD school after I in-process this week. Willing to answer questions about bct in my experience for anyone thinking about joining, otherwise just wanted to come back to the Nation on the right foot.

yeah man. 20th group has our HHC up there.

actually just finished up some orders with PTAE, sent guys from the 441st EOD and 111th EOD through validation before they went off to their mob site. pretty cool dudes. kinda cocky but i guess that's not saying much esp considering i hang out with group guys, lol.

you gonna transfer to either of those units?

No idea honestly, right now I'm just trying to finish this phase asap and get on to eglin for phase II. From there I'm trying to get to Campbell or Bragg, not sure what unit I would find myself in

Regrettably, I haven't posted on T-Nation in quite awhile. But I plan on being more active now.

I have an update for anyone who cares. I'm damn near done with EOD school down here at Eglin. It's been a long, hard (academically) road, as I've been in class since August and have gone straight through. It's mostly downhill from here. If anyone is familiar with the division layout, I tested out of IEDs and should be in BC in about a week or so. In about 2-2.5 more months, I should get my Crab and proudly call myself an EOD tech.

Like I said before, I haven't been on here in awhile. But thanks to everyone who wished me good luck back in August. I'll keep you guys posted; waiting on orders right now (seems like I'm the last one to get them, lol). Also, I'll gladly answer any questions I can with my limited experience to anyone who is thinking about coming to EOD or just curious.

Thanks again everyone

I guess I had no idea EOD school was that long.

You're from Wisconsin? Where exactly?

Yah, this school is, no shit, like 11 months long for Army (Redstone + Eglin), going straight through. Not the longest school ever, but it's gotta be up there, lol.

And yes, Northwest Wisconsin. Rice Lake/Cumberland area, about an hour north of Eau Claire. Where in WI are you from?

Great news everybody, got my orders today.

I'll have to get back to you on the exact unit (788th?, I think), but I'm going to Fort Campbell. I'm so pumped. I used
to live there as an Army brat, and we have family friends there right now (infantry, though). I'm surprised I got my first
choice.

Anyone currently stationed there?

Bring your canoe! They have some massive flooding going on in that neck of the woods right now. I was stationed at Campbell as my first duty station and can honestly say it set me up for success. Good luck to you.

That's good to hear, the part about success atleast, lol. And yes, I've heard all about the flooding. I don't currently
own a canoe, but maybe with my bonus...? Lol, thanks for the good luck

I honestly don't know much about it. It seems similar to GATOR, a pre-deployment course for EOD techs. It basically briefs/teaches everyone about current enemy TTP's, what is being found in clandestine labs by WIT and CEXC, etc.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Update: graduated today, on leave until the 27th. Going to the 49th instead of the 788th, still Fort Campbell. Can't be too specific about this, but deploying to Afghanistan VERY soon

I went to Redstone. Marine Detachment, my friend joined the Army and I drove over there to visit a couple of years ago.

Another update:

Forgot to mention it here, but I ended up going to the 788th instead of the 49th. Sooooo, I'm not in Afghanistan. I'm still here in the States.

Although guys I graduated with are getting experience over there (wherever they are), I'm getting plenty of experience running CONUS incidents, from Dothan, AL to Rockford, IL and everywhere in between.

I'm scheduled to deploy to Iraq in Q3 2011, until things change again.

You mentioned the GATOR course, is there something similar for non-techs, maybe an MTT that could come to a unit and give a brief to a unit preparing to deploy to theater?

I know camp shelby offers an IED-master gunner course where they "train the trainer"

i know i know, it's not a MTT. but maybe you can pick up the slot from your unit? then YOU can lead the MTT. ha
