Goal End of 2010
================
1) Bench: 225 for 3 reps
2) Squat: 315 for 3 reps
3) Deadlift: 315 for 3 reps
Well, I didn't hit any of these goals! At the end of the year I was at the following:
1) Bench: None - Took a break for shoulders. 100 lb dumbbells for 2 reps
2) Squat: 300lbs for 3 reps
3) Deadlift: 300lbs for 3 reps
I feel my progress was good. In mid-August my squat was at 250 and my deadlift was at 225 pounds. However, I didn't hit my goals. So the question is, were my goals too high or was my intensity for shit? Looking back at my training log, I only missed two weeks -- and one of those was for my wedding, when I had another kind of workout in mind. Other than that I seemed to have had fairly good progression every week. Well, who cares, time to set goals for 2011!
Started benching again, and I LOVE training for strength. It was very odd -- and somewhat gratifying -- to be the strongest guy in the gym when I had to work out in Fargo, ND for a weekend. So, strength goals remain, but I need to take care of bodycomp.
Metric: Current / Goal
======================
Squat: 305/365
Bench: 205/225
Deadlift: 305/405
OH Press: 135/175
Bodyfat: ~21%/11%
Except for bench, I am the strongest I have ever been. That's a great feeling at the age of 34! I'm also close to the fattest I've been. Lifting over the last year, I've stayed just a hair over 200lbs, but it's definitely of a different composition than back in early 2009, when I was an absolutely wimpy fatass.
I might break this down into quarterly goals. Matter of fact, that's probably a good idea. But I'll do that later.
On a side note, I just want to thank everyone in the BOI. Everyone here is understanding but firm: we don't let each other get away with any shit. That's good. Nice to keep the flamers out and focus on constructive criticism. One of the business leaders I admire recommends having accountability partners in every area of one's life: Spiritual, Family, Business, Financial and Personal. I treat the BOI as my accountability partner in the health aspect of my personal life. You guys are great and I'm proud to be a member.
