Let's start the year off right!

Amsterdam Animal wrote:

Am I the only nostalgic mofo on this site? What the fuck happened to the once proud brotherhood of iron? When did this once bound by a thirst for growth and hunger for improvement bunch of hardcore animals get infiltrated by a bunch of pussified moronic cry babies?

I spent this morning replying to threads about people being threatened in the parking lot because they were using someone's piece of gym equipment, guys refusing to spot one another in the gym and people actually defending this mindless bullshit. Tell me there is hope after all and the glory days will be once more.

I used to walk into a gym and hang around the big boys just to pick up a tip or two. I trained for years before I finally mustered up enough nerves to ask the biggest guy in the gym in the gym if I could please train with him.

The majority of these wannabe lifters nowadays have no fucking respect for the game anymore and are just taking up gym space if you ask me. Why the fuck do you look surprised when I tell you to get the fuck out my way when you are talking to your girl on your cell phone?

If a guy, who is in the midst of a serious work out, asks you to spot him, you spot him when you are ready to do so. And even if he doesn?t ask you, if he gets crushed under a weight and you are nearby, you spot him.

When some young kid comes to you and asks you a few things, don?t be a total jackass and tell him a few basic things to get him on his way.

When someone is just fucking around, tell him to do things right or go home. If you are serious and want to learn, I have no problem helping you along, just come correct and respect those who have come before you.

It is about time we clean this shit up, I am on a fucking war path to grow and improve and will not be taking any prisoners.

first day of the rest of my life....

jowee found us an underground gym to train in. it's about 2 thousand square feet of powerlifting, MMA and strong man equipment. there's only ten other members. it uses a keyless entry system so we can train whenever we want. i have a video of the new home.

working sets

700x1 +25lb PR

GHR's on actual, real life GHR

some x some

dumbell rows

some x some

decline situps

Nice pull Scott, lol at the slap to the face -- I asked another trainer to slap my back before a big lift and he thought I was nuts! I suppose we are in a way. New gym looks great.

I'll second that lol. I have a buddy that slaps me hard in the back without me even asking. Whenever I'm standing in front of the bar before a heavy set of squats, trying to get my mind right, he just slaps me and yells "Come on!". It does the trick lol

That was an awesome pull Meat!

Notes: Lifted with my mom's new boyfriend in KC. It's funny cause he was pressing much more than me, repping 275 for 4 for probably 8 sets, but he was STRUGGLING with 275 on deads lol. I also met some guy there that has a buddy who has trained with Chad Aiches and other big time powerlifters. He saw my EFT shirt and we talked for a long time. He told me about a pretty hardcore gym in KC that I should try and train at from time to time.

Oh yeah, and I went to the Chief's playoff game today. I froze my ass off for 5 hours, so I was pretty spent and didn't even feel like training much. I cut it short on deads and cut some assistance out. A good night sleep tonight will put me back in order

Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your tasks. Then the doing of your work shall be no miracle, but you shall be the miracle. -- Phillips Brooks

Been a while. Traveled a bit to see family, got sick and shit just went to hell in a hurry training wise. I attempted to train 3 times during the traveling and head cold ridden parts of the past 2 weeks. 2 of those times would have been better spent alseep. Back at it earlier this night.

Push press. Start of 1's week sort of. That will be explained later.

Video:

Warm ups:

Warmups: same asl always really.

BarX15
95X10
135X8
225X3

Work sets:

240X5
275X1 cut it short on this set.
305X5 PR of sorts I guess. Felt good to be moving shit again. I need to get a mouth peice though, as I nicked my jaw on one of the reps.

Db push press(1 arm)

75X5
100X5
125X5 left arm
125X8 Right arm.

Despite doing the left arm first, the imbalance is still there. Eh, I think this will be my main auxillary for a bit, so hopefully it can iron itself out.

DB floor neurtral grip tri press:

100sX12 for 3 sets

Rear delt cable raizezzz:

someXsome

20 minutes of steady state cardio on one of those conveyer belt things. Did not want to drag the sled in the wet and cold and get sick again. Maybe being a panzzy like this will keep me from getting sick again. I still felt the residual effects of the cold, but for fucks sake I needed to move something. Good night on the whole. Bar path felt a bit rusty also. Damn lay-offs and breaks will be the death of me. Deads forthcoming.

Where might this gym be in KC? I've looked and the only one I can find is run out of a small storage space near Arrowhead and isn't much better than my basement set up.
BTW that game sucked, the Chiefs didn't bother showing up.

Definitely think chest is coming along, especially upper.

Yo meat, glad you found an awesome new gym, badass shit is gonna be going down there!

Good session yesterday and today, yesterday I hit biceps, and...

Front squats (315x10, nonstop reps, +20 lbs from last time, NICE!):

Barbell Curls (165x9, +3 rep PR)

Then today, chest and traps. Base gym was closed, so I grabbed a workout at the local Gold's, first time there. Not a bad place, lots of big dudes there, one guy that was fucking HUGE. Always motivating.

Worked up to 585x4 shrugs, but they had no chalk, and the bar was really fat, hence only getting 4 reps...straps started to slip.

DID get 120'sx7 incline DB bench, heaviest I've gone on that, and they felt good...though I BARELY got them into position haha.

Did Incline BB Bench 185x14, then 225x5...damn 225 is hard when you've already done a burnout set haha.

Can't wait to do a back thickness workout tomorrow, along with some calves!

I think it's called Society of Strength, around 95th and I435 if you know the area at all. I added the guy I met on Facebook last night so I'll try to contact him about getting a session in there sometime.

And yes, that game completely sucked lol. I would have rather stayed home than risked getting sick from freezing outside. It was cool going to a playoff game though

Did the second pressing day of HP Mass today. The gym closed as I was about to do the squatting portion, but the racks were taken, so I did two circuits for shoulders and left. We got a bad snow storm, which is why the gym closed before I expected. Pressing felt better than yesterday's
