woooo I'm finally in! thanks again Stu! hi guys, it's an honor to be invited into the Alpha Cell.
WALL OF TEXT BELOW
I've been lifting on and off since I was a freshman playing hs football, but I didn't see any real progress until the past year or so due to lack of commitment, program ADD and some injuries. four years ago, I weighed 195 with a belly circumference near 50", no real musculature to speak of, total cholesterol near 300 and systolic BP in the 130-140 range due to poor diet, inactivity, smoking and genetics. I started working out regularly, but I was doing everything I saw in M&F and ate healthier but like a bird (I would have one apple after 6pm and water until I went to sleep). I got down to a small, very weak and flat 165.
I had been reading a lot on this site and started 5/3/1. I got up to a stronger 180-185 from my own retarded 5/3/1 routine and eating more (though not consistently). push press went from 95xsum to 125x9, smith bench went from 155x5 to 315x2, deadlift from 185xsum to 270x9, squat from 155xsum to 235x6. technique sucked (I pulled my back twice deadlifting) but I got stronger.
I had plans to go to DR with my gf and friends this past May, so I adopted an all-out approach and went on a 16 week hard cut. I did double or triple sessions every training day, starting with a protein pulse fast at work the day before the first training day of the week, then on the actual day I would do a "fasted" 60-75 minute walk, have a big meal, do a HIIT weighted complex for 30 minutes sometimes followed by 15 minutes of loaded carries, then 45-60 minutes of steady cardio later in the day. I got down to the much leaner 170 in my old avi.
I was lacking size everywhere so after DR I started a bulk. at first, my training and eating were lacking intelligence and commitment, but thanks to mr. popular and his friend I started doing a basic BB split and consistently eating more.
I currently weigh 205, seated ohp 145x8, bench 225x10, squat 205x10 (finally to parallel or close), and just yesterday deadlifted 365x1.
I eventually hope to weigh a much leaner 190-200, post a 1200 raw total or more and get 18" arms. idk what chest and leg circumference would look good on me yet so I'm just aiming for gains every month. basically I want to be strong and look the part, with more emphasis on looks.
