WOW! I'm so honored! Thank you to all for the encouragement! I wish I found this website a lot sooner in life, it may have motivated me to start working out earlier than my 30s. I still can't believe that anyone has interest in my experience or what I have to say.... I guess I've gotten so use to working with high school students that I almost expect to be tuned out, LOL. (actually, the kids I work with are really pretty good)
@Barachiel - My Friend!!!! :) How are you? I was just telling someone about the beautiful weather we had that week in Colorado, I still miss it there.
So, I feel like this is a really big decision of where to post... what to do, what to do??? I had already started a thread a few days ago on the Body Building forum, before I even realized this forum had been created.
Here is the link to my current thread.
http://tnation.T-Nation.com/..._novice_to_open
I really want to post in both places, but I don't want to seem like a glutten... I think, for now I'm going to continue with my original thread in the BB forum, but I will definitely be a regular visitor/contributer to the Figure Athletes Forum as well. It's AWESOME that they created this forum and integrated it into the T Nation site. However, I also think that women shouldn't be intimidated to contribute or post to the Body Building forum as well.
I know that was one of the reasons I only did cardio for over a year at my gym... I was intimidated to go over to the weights area by myself, where all the men are. Now, I feel empowered on the "man side" of the gym and I get respect there, they see that I train just as hard and spend just as much (if not more) time there. I want that intimidation factor to change, I want more women in my gym (and in general) to weight train, I want them to know that it feels better to be strong instead of skinny, and that it's the media or conventional wisdom that says you'll look like a man if you train hard. The same goes for online. This forum is a WONDERFUL place, and I'm glad to be here at its creation, but, that shouldn't stop any woman from visiting/contributing to the Body Building forum as well!
I've also been reading some of the stuff on the Powerful Women forum. I'm still familiarizing myself with all the different areas of this website, it's chock full of information... I'll def be spending more online time here.
sorry to ramble! :)
