Chelsey, I see muscle on your chest, shoulders and back that wasn't there before! And your abs are showing some nice definition.

Nice job leaning down! A lot of people who enjoy lifting never get that disciplined with their diet. It really shows a lot of mental fortitude. And it's impressive that you just took off learning to lift and ran with it.

Best of luck on your show. Have fun! You've worked so hard, and to think you really just started in the wintertime, right? I'll be so interested to see you continue over the next couple of years. Sounds like you are hooked! :) Now you can enjoy the summer being the fittest chick on your block. :)

Thanks girls! It has been a fun journey and there are moments in which I still doubt myself and my progress, but I believe that comes from many years of previous self-esteem issues. I just have to remember to be confident and have fun while on stage! I will post pics after the show. This prep has been CRAZY.... especially this week :) I love it! Thank you both for all of your support and good wishes. It really means a lot to me and it has helped to keep me determined to succeed.

Aw, you've done great! I'm looking forward to seeing all your pictures.

As for body issues, you aren't alone. We women tend to be so hard on ourselves. Lifting weights has really helped me appreciate my body more for what it can do, and also just feel more comfortable in my own skin. Looking to appreciate healthy athleticism instead of wishing to be skinny with the fine bones I wasn't born with. Ha! I mentioned this to UP recently. As a teen, and younger woman I was really self-conscious of my large calves. Now I just see how ridiculous that was. Lifting helped me appreciate them as a gift, instead of having some warped perception of cankles that I couldn't do anything about. :) It's a journey, and so much of it is about what's in your head. I hope you keep on enjoying the benefits of a healthier lifestyle for years to come.

Enjoy the cheeseburger. You've certainly earned it!

Wow, cant believe its almost here!!

Your body really came together. Im looking forward to seeing how you change. Your strength is holding in there, you are going to be a
brute, when your food comes back. Will you "reverse diet"? Whats the plan for that?
Im really glad you had a very positive experience. Looking forward to the final pics!

ROCK IT OUT!!

Thanks Powerpuff and Up :) It has been a long journey, but totally worth it for a multitude of reasons. I am slowly starting to feel more confident in my own skin and I feel much healthier in general.

When the show is done I will continue working with my coach and will most likely do a clean bulk of sorts and gain some more muscle before my next show in October. I can't wait to get my strength back :)

One more posing practice and I will be ready to rock the stage! Soooooo pumped!!!!!!
I will post pics after of course :)

Thank you all again for your wonderful support. I cannot believe the day is almost here.... that seemed like a very short 14 weeks! Cheeseburger and junk food here I come (for a day at least! Then back at it!)

Hi Gals!!!
I have been super busy since the show with job applications for my first ever teaching job!!!! I am hoping I get either the Kindergarten or second grade position!!! I got second place in my show! I will post pics this weekend. I have gone off my diet for this week and decided to indulge in some chocolate and other goodies while still eating mostly clean. I am still training everyday and continuing to lift big and do a little cardio (30-40 minutes a day). I will be starting training with my coach again in the beginning of June for my show in October. I am totally hooked, but need a little break before hitting the diet hard again! I am finding it difficult to get back into my contest prep routine. I am also a little fearful of gaining weight, but I know it is necessary to add some more muscle. Everything in balance right! Lots of fruit this week.....I missed it soooo much!

Here is a link to my FB and most of the pics are posted :) I will post the pics on the forum this weekend though too!

First time out and Second Place!!!! Congrats, Chelsey!
I looked at your facebook link but I don't see your show pics, except some lovely sparkly eyes. Maybe I'm facebook challenged. :(

Oh, and best of luck with your teaching! I teach gifted middle school kids in the summer and it's the highlight of my year.

About being careful with weight gain after your show, I know that's a common complaint that people really yo-yo afterward. I know when I severely restrict calories, it brings out the binging behavior. Ideally, you eat big for a day or two, then go back toward a slightly relaxed diet so you very slowly add calories to bring yourself out of the deficit to a maintenance mode. You want to avoid the "I can't believe I gained it all back in two months" shame spiral. :) So glad you have had so much fun with it! Keep on it. Looking forward to seeing the pics of you all tanned and blinged out!

EDIT: Now I can see them. :) Wow! Gorgeous pics. Hammies and quads came in there toward the end. And I'm jealous of your ab definition. You did great, Chelsey!
