This thread will contain my Indigo-3G log as my other training log is deprecated.
The start date is dependent upon my return to the United States, which appears to be June 3rd at the moment. My plan is tentatively to run the introductory Smolov squat mesocycle - off days will be strength related upper-body work.
My week will be structured as follows:
M: Smolov
T: Upper-Body
W: Smolov
Th: Upper-Body
F: Smolov
Sat: Smolov
Sun: Metabolic Work
I have a spreadsheet developed to track projected percentages but the numbers will be dependent upon testing a new 1RM before my trip back to the United States.
Stats at the moment:
Height: 6'2" approximately
Weight: 245
BF: High (Not recently tested)
I'll test my other 1 RM when I get back.
For some background history:
I posted my first log here during my senior year of high school. I did successfully lose some of the fat I sought to, although I was far from lean at graduation. I realize now that some of my weight issues were related directly to my prednisone courses, now being well acquainted with the effects of that particular drug. At the same time, my habits my sophomore year of high school had done me little favors. While my diet was normal by traditional teenager standards, I should have realized with my family history of Crohn's and my life-long weight struggles that I needed to be more careful. Even as a young child my weight was much higher than I was comfortable with, despite eating the same healthy food as my skinny siblings and exercising fairly regularly. In retrospect, that was probably the first sign that something wasn't right.
Back to the point: My log ended before I left for college. During freshman year I made a conscientious effort to eat healthily at the school cafeteria, work out 4-5 times a week, and to not drink. Yet despite my best efforts to do everything properly, my intestine ruptured - during a mathematics final, no less. I went to the hospital, where I underwent the first of what would be four operations. They removed a portion of my small intestine and sent me home.
Unfortunately, I didn't get much better. I wasn't hungry or thirsty. My weight continued to plummet. I ended up back in the hospital with yet another rupture. This time, however, the doctor fitted me with an ileostomy. Shortly after the hunger and thirst went away again. I eventually ended back in the hospital, this time with kidney and liver failure. I was in pretty miserable shape. By the time I'd left the ICU, it had been 4 months since that mathematics final. I'd dropped from 290 pounds to 169. Worst of all, my muscles had atrophied almost comically. I struggled to even walk.
Thankfully, with the help of some experts in Crohn's disease, I was able to get back on track. I had one more surgery last year and am now healthy and ileostomy free. It has been a tough road but it made me realize the necessity of conscientious hard work.
This time around I won't let down myself by eating a bad diet or skipping workouts. I know how that ends and I didn't like it. I'm going to stay healthy and strong. And I want you all to hold me to that.
1) Height: 6'2"
2) Weight: 245
3) Number of years training seriously: 6
4) Training experience, including current program: Predominantly a 5 x 5 program. Short alternative programs include Smolov and Poliquin's Super Accumulation Programme. I intend on starting my I3-G trial during a Smolov squat cycle, with upper body work performed on non-squat days.
5) Olympic-lift variations you know how to perform: Can do both snatches and clean and jerks, in addition to the antiquated clean and press (which happens to be my favorite).
6) Athletic background: Played football off an on growing up, in addition to some stints on the track and field squad. Did some small informal powerlifting meets but nothing in an official federation. Was to play college football, albeit Division III, prior to my Crohn's surgeries.
7) Primary fitness goal (choose one): Gain Strength
8) Secondary fitness goal (choose one): Improve Athletic Performance
9) Days per week you can train: 7
10) Amount of time available to train each workout: Up to 2 hours if necessary, but generally less than one.
11) Time of day you train: Early morning. Second workout in the afternoon if twice/day.
12) Do you have certain days available for twice-a-day workouts? Every day is feasible for twice/day as long as I have notice in advance to change my work schedule.
13) Your daily schedule: Generally up at 6:00. Go for a quick walk. Eat breakfast. Start peri-nutrition around 8:30. Workout around 9:00. Eat lunch around 11:00. If afternoon workout, start peri-workout nutrition around 2:30 and start my workout around 4:00. Dinner around 6:00. Bed around 9:00.
14) Current injuries (if any): Still recovering from my last Crohn's surgery but almost back to full work capacity.
15) Lifts (if any) you need to avoid due to safety issues: None that I've encountered.
16) Do you currently have trouble falling asleep at bedtime? Occasionally.
17) When you wake up in the morning, are you an easy starter or you do
need some extra time and stimulants to start your day? Generally an easy starter.
18) Health issues (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.): Suffer from Crohn's disease. Had 4 surgeries from late 09 through the end of 2010. Explained in further detail above.
19) Total calories consumed on training days: 2000
20) Total calories consumed on non-training days: 2460 (Anaconda Prot. 2)
21) Total grams of carbs consumed on training days: <114 (Anaconda Prot. 2)
22) Total grams of carbs consumed on non-training days: <50
23) Describe in detail your workout nutrition: I follow the second Anaconda protocol:
- 90 min Take Alpha-GPC Fast-Acting Liquid. 5 ml
- 30 min Prepare the ANACONDA drink:
- 10 min Take the first dose of ANACONDA drink. 475 ml (16 oz)
00 min Begin Workout
10 min Drink the second ANACONDA dose during your workout. 475 ml (16 oz)
50 min End Workout
+ 10 min Drink the remaining ANACONDA drink. 250 ml (8.5 oz)
Photos: I need to confirm with my work whether or not I can post photos.

What are your goals?
As you can see by the smolov cycle, strength oriented. Would like to return to the 600s for DL/Squat by the end of the year - but will accept something in the 5s. My hope is that the Indigo and peri-workout nutrition, with a tight diet otherwise, will also help me shed a few pounds of fat and add back some lost muscle.
Anything more specific you want or think I should be looking at?

I thought there was going to be a section for the Indigo-3G logs? I was going to wait to make mine.
Congrats on staying strong during your stated history. I'll be looking forward to following.

Not at all, was just curious after reading your story.
Best of luck, I hope you get to where you want to be. I will be checking in periodically, and it looks like a few others will too. Stick with it and keep fighting.

Well, I figured they could move it if there was - I just wanted to make sure that I held myself accountable to start posting in it as soon as I started the cycle.

Doesn't look like there will be a forum - just the regular training logs and the special spill privs.

Just curious, why would your work have to ok you posting pictures of yourself in the internet? Would covering up your face make a difference?

It is simply the nature of some of the consulting work I do - more of a precaution than anything else. I planned on covering my face regardless.

How's it going so far CR.
I'm noticing a different mind/muscle connection coming into my first week. Can't say for certain till my next workout. But let us know if things feel any different during the Smolov.
I'd be intereted in your take on it.
